I asume they provide you with a modem/router?
Yep a standard usb broadband modem is free with them....just p&p to pay. If you want/need a router then every company costs you more for them and tbh you can generally get a better one for cheaper buying it yourself seperately.
You can check it out here.
Tesco, our schoold Tesco. Unreliable as fuck!
I`d have to 2nd Plusnet - we had a problem when they upgraded us to 2mb/s from 512kb/s - basiclly it was unstable cos it was too fast for the line but they eventually got us down to 1mb/s and it been fine since
I pay 13.99 per month though cos I2ve recmmonded 2 people now and when you do that they knock off 50p per month
another 28 more pople and mine will be free .. lol
so if you wanna help me reach that goal fell free to ask for a link
BTW we were with Pipex before and basically paying 23 pounds something for half the speed - I`ve only been with 2 broadband companies but I really recommend in these cases you go with a specialise company like plusnet and not a supermarket - cos if you get a technical problem they`re not likely to be very good on tech support.
And it`s only when things go wrong you truely know how good a company is.
How quick can you get it? See its a pain cause our phone line isn't being installed until AT LEAST 17th oct as they can't get in to do the work (new build) until between then & 25th oct. I can't get broadband until then can i? By get it i mean sign up. Also how do i find out if broadband is even avalible in my area? As its a new build i have no idea how i go about getting it unless we go back to bt which i don't really want to.
Go back to BT?
I assume it`s BT putting in the phoneline
I`m sure one you know what your new phone number will be you can start the process, since in reality it`s BT engineers that do all ADSL changes at the telephone exchange
Once your circuit is installed, its electrical characteristics will be measured and entered into "eCo". At this point an ISP can check wether ADSL can be provisioned on the line.
I think plusnet set ours up in 7 days from the time I knew my phone number so could actually apply for it.
