I must admit I have volunteered 3 times and only once was by choice. What is stopping you from going to http://www.do-it.org.uk right now and applying for a position apart from a lack of spare time?
What perks would they have to give you to signup if you had the time?
I would definitely apply if I knew I could surf the net while I was working. u?

Ive just given my details to the company that provides cafe services for one of the local hospitals.
Ive got spare time.
Ive got a food hygiene certificate and previous catering experience.
I think they do a really good job and theyre desperate for volunteers.
