Christian Gap Years

Hi, my sister is taking a gap year this year and wants to do something christian, and go on a placement abroad...I said i'd do some research for her cause shes working full time at the moment, but not being religious myself Im not sure exactly whats out there. Has anyone here done a christian gap year and can recommend any organisation i can try?

As you may already know Christianity is a pretty wide religion with many divisions so your sister may have a particular preference for working in a certain area. However you can Visit this site for a list of some of the main organisations which are likely to offer opportunities

Christian Aid is probably the most well known charity which offers Gap Year opportunities for those who are eager to help others.

For initial information and then visit this site for more detailed info They bascially offer 10 months work which includes a 2 week long overseas trip.

It might also be worth contacting the YWCA (young women's christian association) to see if they offer any voluntary opportunities.
