That website says the suburb of Spital Tongues is a funny name.

    Erm.

There's a hill near Spadeadam called Cock Play, near Bellingham there's Shitlington Crags, and at the bottom of the Farne Islands is a rock called faggot.

    Still, Plymouths pretty bad :(

Been on the bus to work through devonport, doesn't look too friendly round there.

But when it comes down to it, I'm a student, goes to plymouth university, needs a house, gets well furnished house, doesnt care what the area's called or what it's like...so long as my house doesnt get broken into...

If by "near" you mean 100 miles away, yes.

    Stargate close.. omg.

There is always Minges, 20.4 miles away from me. I like it, I may have to steal a sign.

Dancing Dicks is only 6 miles away, and wins. Enjoy a map to prove its real-ness.

Thats the whole point its only funny if you see it spelt or pronounce it differently

its not so imediatly apparent as living somewhere called Gaylord or someting I saw it on the side of a lorry one day, knew how to pronounce it, then I saw the alternate way...

there seem to be an abundance of strange names in the somerset area..e.g. curry mallet, henlade (perhaps i'm the only one who thinks that's a tiny bit amusing), four forks, shopnoller, west quantoxhead, nether stowey..i could go on. least they're not boring though!

but there are strange names in lincolnshire too...like kirkby la thorpe, burton pedwardine, silk willoughby, friskney, belchford, strubby, snitterby..etc.

ETA: this has probably been done before, but try this if you want to find amusing place names near you. and here has some more.
