Car insurance

My mate and I are looking for the cheapest possible car insurance for his car, and we haven't phoned anyone yet and so just looking for some advice. His 24 and got a clean licence and never been in any crashes. I personally think he should of got some quotes when he got this car but as it's not a standard motor and it's not going to be used as an A2B type of a car I think he will have some probs getting some good quotes, any thoughts?

    Has he had insurance previously?

    When you say 'not standard' do you a modified car(bodykits,alloys,exhaust,engine mods) or do you mean high performanced/sports car(GTi's, turbo's etc)

    From personal experience, insuring a modified car as a young driver was a nightmare but its possible. But, be prepared to fork out for it. Most companies whack the premiums up sky high as soon as you mention the words 'non standard parts', yet in the event of a claim you're only covered for the standard parts.
    Takes patience to find a company willing to insure you at a decent price.

    If you mean high performance/sports type jobbies, then this is something i cant comment on from experience, but at 24 so long as he's got some no claims bonus you should find reasonable insurance. Apparently Adrian Flux are a good company.

    If its a project car or track day car then im not sure. Standard road insurance doesnt cover you for rallies etc.

    Anyway i might have the complete wrong idea of what you mean, but id reccommend trying Liverpool Victoria. 0800514514

    It's a Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R. tbh I think he would of had probs with high insurance just mentioning the car without everything else that he done to it:/.

    Some companies do specialise in insuring young drivers with high performance cars. Im not sure how good they are or how cheap, but they usually advertise in the likes of Max Power.
    Give Adrian Flux a try.
    Maybe he could get his dad/mum or somebody to insure it and he could be a named driver?
    Or dont declare any modifications? I dont really think its right, and you take a risk of voiding the policy should you be caught out but its a last resort.

    Oh, my ex bought one of those (ugly thing, but that's just my opinion!).. He's on holiday right now so I can't ask him where he got it insured :(

    Try http://www.jicconline.co.uk/Insurance.htm - again, they recommend Adrian Flux and also Tesco, surprisingly enough!

    There was another one I told my ex about but I can't remember what it was now *tut* Will have a think..

    Always buy off the net, most companies give a 10% discount when buying over the internet.
