Is it just me, or is just about every new film a load of bollocks?

The only decent one i can remember is Layer Cake, and even that is hardly an awe-inspiring addition to crime genre...

Plenty of gloss, digital effects and the same multi-millionaire faces you see every day, week in, week out.

The Foreign Films section might seen unusually attractive next time i pay HMV and Virgin a visit...

That's Hollywood for ya. Every new film is either a re-make or a sequel. Hardly anything even slightly original comes from America these days.

i wasn't overly impressed with layer cake to be honest. i know people who think the same but then others who really liked it.

i haven't been to the cinema in ages, think last time i went was to see the aviator. wasn't impressed by that either, found it really boring but then that's down to personal taste. also didn't rate mona lisa smile. we walked out half way through that. but i guess we might've missed a good bit....! but i doubt it.

hmm. last thing i saw was.. i'm not sure. white noise maybe? pile of shite anyway. i saw lemony snicket at the beginning of the year, which i thought was pretty spiffy. plus i want to see the league of gentlemen's apocalypse and the new willy wonka soon :)

Episode III wasn't too bad, but this year has been fairly flat for decent film releases, we haven't been to the cinema nearly as much as last year, mainly because there's been nothing that appealing to go see.

    Sin City was also ok.

Do go to the foreign films section, Motorcycle diaries, Downfall, Maria, etc. Hollywood just doesn't compare at the moment.

I wanna see Switchblade Romance and Ichi The Killer (live action).

Hollywood does suck, as does most mainstream music today. Maybe our generation are stupid and more concerned in getting pissed or popping pills so we can dance to Suga Babes, rather than settling down to listen to a nice session of blues, or a band where the people play their own instruments and make their own music.

As for films, I haven't really enjoyed many recently. I like horror and I found 28 Days Later quite interesting, I also enjoyed Cabin Fever. Mulholland Drive (not horror) is... Well, different and quite entertaining, if a little confusing until you realise what's going on.

To be fair I'm sick of these cliché ghost films that have a 12 or 15 certificate and involve an ambiguous psychic child, two adults reaching middle age you know are going to hook up and angry ghosts... Ohhh and always filmed with a ambigously coloured lens filter to make it look more uh... ghostly.

Then there's the teen movie where either a young woman who's (a) an arty chick or (b) an intellect drops all their standards to get with the college jock whilst a nerd gets beaten up and we're supposed to find it funny...

Foreign film, check out Amélie, Delicatessen and Amores Perros.

And I am guessing the new War of the Worlds will be appaling too. Hell, they moved the country. The original wasn't exactally grand... but they mvoed it to America, and I guess it will end up as another "God Bless America" type film. :( Shame.

im still holding out hope that War of the Worlds is going to be good. im a big fan of the original and the musical. cant wait really.

I dont think hollywood is particularly poor at the moment its been the same for as long as i can remember 95% of movies made just to cash in at the box office but there are a few gems hidden in there somewhere.

Last year we had Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State. both which i enjoyed loads and they were not your stereotypical hollywood release. im sure there are more that i cant just think of right now.

I'd say today's music is definitely better than today's hollywood. You do have some half-decent albums over the last year or so, it's the film industry which is really starting to become tedious...

I have to interject about popping pills though, drugs & good music are inextricably linked...alcohol numbs people to shit noise though.

I don't mind teen movies at all, certainly i'm a fan of Road Trip, and maybe Euro trip at a push...it's becoming an over-done genre i suppose.

28 Days Later is a good concept, but it loses its way after about an hour or so...

I really love SinCity...lordy knows why but Ijust did, and went to see Batman Begins last night...t'wasn't too bad - not usually my cup of tea but it worked well with me.

Creep is a very crap movie, on a random note. Also saw house of wax...it was foolish to include Paris Hilton "Like, omg this so creepy" at a landrover pulling up at to their campsite and night, and not turning off it's headlights...

lesbo party 2005, very dire, small length sections repeated, noticeable when they happened agin, that crap the lighting fails in some places, more cheesy porn music than you can shave a stick at, more fake grunts and grins than you would get from visitors to an old peoples home

and no, i didnt see it at home, the dj needed to check our new dvd player was working in the bar, so rather than scratch a nice disc, he threw in this porno he got from a car boot sale
