When did you lose yours?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Just out of curiosity - how old were you guys when you lost your virginity? People seem to frown upon people that lose it when they are very young, but I think there is nothing wrong with this if you are very much in love with the person your sleeping with. I'm only 16 and haven't told anyone because a lot of people think it's a slutty thing to do. What do you think? I'm madly in love with my guy and have been seeing him for a year so why do people think its a bad thing to do?

I was either 14 or 15.
(there is dout over this due to the fact that on the millenium i had consumed WAY too much alcohol and don't remember much past 11.30. My mate saw me and this bloke on a sun bed nude. She said it was highly likely I did sleep with him but she didn't see anything deffinate.)
Otherwise it was when I was 15 with my boyfriend who I was in love with. It was v sweet, innocent and romantic.
I don't regret it at all. All i regret is splitting up with him.

When you are young, it can be difficult to tell the difference between who you think is the right person at the time, and who actually is the right one.

Lost mine when I was 21 in a tent in the Lake District at the start of a 3-year relationship. I nearly lost it several times from the age of 12 onwards but didn't due to interruption, broken condom machines/friend of mum's started working in the chemist, COMPLETE LACK OF CHUTZPAH (still pissed at myself over that one) etc. I did have my first blow job at the age of 13 round the back of the local church.

There are two aspects to the "slut" label. What you think about yourself and what other people think about you.

There is, in my opinion, no ethical reason why you shouldn't have sex with whom you want as often as you want. Though there are of course practical issues; disease, unwanted pregnancy, disturbing the vicar's sermon etc

Having said that, there are emotional risks. There is such a thing as a person who equates sex to self worth. We all like sex - but for some people it's all there is in life - it has begun to fill the same role as H or alchohol does to the addict.

There are also social risks, especially and unfairly, for femmes. Some blokes, even those you believe you can trust, and some femmes to for that matter, will talk about you to others not as someone they love, but as someone they have shagged. This may devalue you in other peoples eyes.

If you want to do it, and he is someone you do and can trust not to diss you to others then go ahead. 16 doesn't seem that young to me.

Could you also do me a favour. If someone is being rubbished as a slut/tart/tramp, don't join in. Defend them if you can. The more people are devalued in this way, the worse it is for everyone.

I was 16 at the time, I am now 19. It was a very overated experiance. I thought I was in love with my boyf at the time, but now years on I wish I hadn't lost it to him as I did not love him. Love is a feeling that when young feels like it can be easily felt to any sorta guy. But when older even though only a few years, you know it wasn't love. Also always remember whoever you lose your virginity to can get you pregnant. No form of contraception or two forms together even is 100% Only abstinence is 100%. My mum fell pregnant when on the pill with my elder brother and when sterilised with my youngest. Who are now 15 and 13. Always make sure he is wearing a condom correctly and even maybe make sure you are taking the pill or something.

I was 16, and i hated it (i am a lad as well)apart from the fact that my girlfriend wasnt a virgin, she had slept with loads of other guys, and she pressured me into it. Hated her for that, then i dumped her

• Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Whoa. most of you guys were really young. I'm really suprised at how many were pressured into it. I feel so sorry for you guys - I hope you're ok now.
Thanks for your reply's - I feel a lot better about the situation.

PS. Timmy Tim - your 69er? With girl or guy? Just wondering 'cause you said you were gay.
And good for you for coming out - your helping loads of 15 year olds deal with their sexuality.

I haven't lost mine yet, to a guy, or a girl.
None of my relationships have been serious enough to contemplate it.
I have no qualms about losing it under-age though, as long as I'm ready, I'll do what I want, when I want!

It was with a guy. We didn't really know what we were doing, we just started touching each other and it went on from there. He wasn't really my boyfriend either, he was my best friend. Although I did really fancy him now that I think about it.
Also, I didn't realize I was having such an effect on other people. Most of my friends know I'm gay, so for me it's just normal to talk about it. I'm glad I'm having a positive effect.
