    Lol.

I can understand where you coming from, but the ppl who made the actual charity ones had good intentions. Its just that people have turned em into the latest fashion item..

yeh... there's a shop in town that calls them "fashion" bands.... it's annoying because now they are bringing out random ones that have no meaning at all.
they are even fooling some people into buying them and making them believe the moneys going to charity when its not.

its a shame to see that something that started out as a good cause is now turning into something to make shops money rather than charitys.

I bought my band from the Action Aid website, for £1 and I know the money has gone to charity. A store in town is selling Make Poverty History bands for £2... it's obvious they're making a profit on charity, which Dr Pirate, I agree is awful.

I've seen schoolkids with millions of them, but if it makes money for charity then I can't see it being a bad thing to be honest.... the commercialisation of them is bad, so people should only buy them from places where they know the dosh will go where it's needed. I think it's a canny way of giving to charity. :)

All I have is a LiveStrong and a makePOVERTYhistory band, both from the charities themselves. It is shocking that people are trying to make a profit out of these. Scum

I respect that, I just dont get why people would want to wear one that says "love" or "heart" or any other random word on.

    Hello everybody,
I think that the charity bands were a fantastic idea, and the fact that they are now somewhat of a fashion statement is even better. This is one of the most clever ways to collecting charity money. There are heaps of fake ones, but i think that most people know which ones profit charity, but why not wear a random word on your arm if you like it? :)

I agree they were a really good idea of raising money and awareness of chairtys but now that the fake ones are coming out i think that people would just rather buy one of those than going to the actual charity shop or website etc.

i don't particularly like the idea of the ones with just words... i mean if they came out before the chairty ones they wouldnt be even half as popular as they are now.

People who profiteer from charity should be hanged upside down, nailed to a wall and then gently flayed.

You should start selling them pirate:)

the original idea was to raise awareness. and you have to agree that it worked. a year ago, everyone was like 'lance who?'

but obviously the human race cannot be trusted to keep things above board. agree with this comment:

I know someone with 10 all together. They range from breastcancer to livestrong, to anti-racism to livewrong. All are sported at once down his arms. I've never seen anything so cool in my entire life.

Showing ignorance here ... which colours are for what?

Yeah, they really are raising awareness when some people see them and don't even know what charities they are supporting. If there were only a couple of them the I would agree but now I don't because there are so many so it is hard to work out which is which, therefore, IMHO defeating the object.

But yes ... which ones are which?

Lol..Now the evil band makers are trying to rob even more ppl of money-which doesn't even go to charity. However, as long as there are ppl willing to buy them, they will continue to manufacture this stuff.
