how to help???????

well the thing is, i have a good friend and over the years he and his partner and kids have become close friends of ours, see the thing is they have 4 children and 3 of them have cystic fibrosis, they are lovely kids who were very active and energetic and dispite their illness they all have plenty of fun together.

However, earlier this year, after 4 years of court battles, they have had two of their children taken into care!

in order to get the children into care, the local authority lied in court and there is evidence to support this.

However the solicitor in question refused to apply for an appeal as they said the barristers opinion stated there was only a slim chance of winning, so my friend applied to a different solicitor they were all for taking the case on until they spoke to the origanal solicitor then they changed their minds so my friend spoke to the legal services commission about funding his case who told him that as he had a strong case that funding would granted as soon as a solicitor applies for it, but when he gets as far as seeing a new solicitor then he gets hit with "we cannot represent you as the barristers opinion says you only have a slim chance of winning."

this is shit what is happening, and as i was dragged up through the care system i will do all in my power to help them, but that is wher i get stuck, i want to go and tell the worlrd about when a local athoroty lies in court then there is nothing wrong and you cannot persue them as they are just following the party line.

surley this can't be right? has anybody got any ideas on how i can help my friend and the rest of his family, as i would love too see all the family back together......

thanks in advance.........
Justin..

its a bit hard for anyone here to say anything constructive because in actual fact, local authorities generally try and keep families together. If their children are being taken away, then there will be a reason.
When you say the local authorities lied, what did they say, and why di you think it was a lie?

Sorry to hear about that..I don't really think many (if any) or us here will be able to help you..I guess all you can do is to support your friends. Maybe try a web search or something, if you haven't already.

    Once again, sorry.

okay here is how it went down, when my friends daughter was young (about ten yrs ago) she started to develop bruising, the gp could not explain it nor could the hospital so it was put down parental abuse, this was completley untrue but however social services started proceedings to remove the children, before the court proceedingsit was found out that she had vitimin K deficiency and that this was the cause of the brusing. so the social services pulled out of the court case.
my friends then went on to have a healthy boy and a further girl and boy that had cystic fibrosis and related conditions, due to their health problems the children need half an hour to an hour physio each morning, and due to this they were late to school in the mornings but were in by 9:45am, however the school was marking them as absent instead of late because it was after the registration period had finished, so as far as social services were concerned they were harly ever in school so, re-started the court application they also claimed that the care company that was responsible for supplying the care assistants, refused to have any more to do with the family yet upon speaking to the care company they had never said such a thing, in fact they were asking why my friend wern't using their services anymore. then the school explained that in line with social services and the local education authority policeys, if a child is not in school by the end of registration period then they are to be marked as absent without authorization.
so the fact that the children were in school, just late, was not taken into account.
the social services lost the case and the childre remained with their parents.
two years later, one of the doctors at the hospital, wants to do three biopsys on each of the younger two children as well as telescope tests. when the family asked if they could have a second opinion, they were told no. they went away to get more information before they gave permission, then a few days later they recieved a letter telling them that they were not allowed to question the doctors opinion and that socal services were seeking court order for the removal of the two youngest children, meanwhile the parents are trying to find more info. out about these biopsies, when they discovered that a blood test could do the same thing, when it got to court the court ruled that no parent in this country has the right to second guess a doctors judgement, and removed the two children.
now there is still two older (8/12) at home and for a while they were allowed two phone calls to their siblings each week for half an hour each call, but the parents were not. also they could have one two hour visit each half term which the parents were allowed to attend, now social services have changed their minds and cancelled all phone calls, and visits also they will not release any information (medical) on how the children are or how their schooling is.
this is so shit, i was brought up in care but i had no idea who my parents are! for this i blame social services as in my view because they are not regulated or have no INDEPENDENT inspections therefore there is no kind of much needed reform, for many years i've wanted to be involved in something that would bring about change in the social services care sector, but have no idea where to start.
