But do seriously think about another form of protection, if not the pill then how about an IUD? Or the hormonal injection that lasts several months? I dont know much about the last one but there is a section on the site that gives info about it, one of the moderators will know.

maybe thats the general rule for IUDs then j9, although im sure ive read in teen mags before that you can have one. i dunno! *shrug*

j9, you are right about most IUDs not being suitable for women who have not had a pregnancy, but a new coil that's very tiny has become available recently, and it may be suitable. Sorry I can't remember the brand name, will get back to you all if I can think of it.

In the innovations section (link above) the second on the list is the Merena IUS (intra-uterine system). This is the form of contraception which I use, and it is fantastic!
The best side effect I have had from this IUS is that I used to bleed very heavily for 10 days, it took about three months for my bleeding to regulate with the Mirena but now I have three day periods with very little blood, if at all.
Aparently this is because one of the ways it works is by thinning the uterine lining so that the fertilised egg can't implant. The amount of hormone is 1/7 the amount in the pill because it is delivered directly to the lining & doesn't go through the blood system like the hormones in the pill have to.
Because the amount of hormones is lower, the potential side effects experienced by pill users are reduced.
It is more effective than the pill, even though there is less hormone introduced to your body, it has a failure rate of 1 in 1000 over the course of a year as opposed to 10 in a thousand for a normal coil, 20 per 1000 for the pill & 10-15 for the Depot Provera injection.

where it also says that because of the hormone content the stem needs to be slightly wider & in their words This can occasionally lead to difficulties with fitting, especially if you have not had a baby before. In this situation, it would be helpful to use some local anaesthetic
So there you are, the Mirena can also be used if you've never been pregnant.
They also say that because of the continuous supply of hormone it has been shown to reduce PMS (if caused by fluctuating hormones throughout the month).
As I said, it is fantastic, but sadly under publicised because of it's cost. It's around £100, but it lasts for 5 years. (It can be removed easily if necessary).

Speaking as a bloke, I actually prefer size 12 girls to size 10 anyway. My idea of the perfect body comes somewhere between size 12 and size 14, but i'd much rather a girl who's slightly overweight than one who is too thin.
