I saw this movie last night and God.. It must be one of the saddest movies ever,

Has anyone seen it? if not it's about a boy and his little sister coping during the firebombings of tokyo in the later years of the second world war,

Very emotional and sad movie, made me cry once or twise,

Must see movie for anyone who hasn't seen it, People who have, what do you think?

The chances of me recommending anime you haven't seen is pretty slim - maybe ghost in the shell 1st gig and the wind rider one from Myazaki

as to melodrama or emotional impact, Magnolia and Imitation of Life are pretty good starting points but anything by Sirk would do

It a fairly old anime movie and yet still very powerful. It is best if you can get ahold of a fan subtitled version.....you might be able to find it on Kazaa.....

Stay away from the Riders of the Wind english version....its a butcher job and sucks.....the original Japanese version has been subtitled by a number of anime groups...look for Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.....also by the same director, Castle in the Sky Laputa, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service....all excellent.....the anime fan group I belonged to some twenty years ago subtitled most of them

To be fair nearly everything is out in new releases with spot on subtitles these days, the new edition of Porco Rosso looks superb on DVD

Blood continued as a series of Japanese games rather than anime didn't it?

    stop stealing such masterpieces!

they're like £10 off play.com or cheaper from the states... no excuse for such tightarsery, especially when they're so good.
