a hair question

I'm getting my hairs cut in a bit, currently its like, the longest bit is shoulder length while the shortest is about chin... a while ago it used to be cute and short and layered, so thats why it looks like that. I was thinking just getting it trimmed and evened up. I hate things that take along time to do. I rarely even wear my hair out of a hair tie because I can't be bothered to straighten it. So does anybody have any suggestions? Just get it the even length or something better.
