Please help an uninspired fellow poster...

I need to get a DVD for my brother and sister for Christmas. I've just been browsing Amazon and CDWow but nothing's caught my eye.

What should I get them? (We've got quite a lot of films between us so mainstream stuff is out but it has to be good!).

    Ah, well done boys :). I've got or seen all on your list Tim, but those are the kind of films I'm looking for...

    Big man, I've never heard of any of them (apart from City of God). Are they all a particular genre?

    La Haine - French film about immigrant teenagers on a council estate. Set over 24 hours. The best movie ever made, ever.

    I tried watching La Haine very late one night but I had to switch it off after about 20 minutes because the subtitles were in white so I couldn't make them out against the black and white screen. :(

    I'm gonna have to get my hands on a copy again when I go home.

    No, not really, there are similarities, in the social exclusion and the age bracket of the charactors. But it deals with different issues, its shot differently.....but most importantly its just much better.

    Kids is alright, La Haine is a Great film, a monumental work.

    'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' is quite funny if you like that sort of thing, though its not as good as the book and the book isnt his best work.

    Heat - is a very good crime film, a bit long though at 3 hours

    Airplane - has to be one of the best comic films ever.
