If you talk proper like, you say any road instead of anyway.

It can depends but 'ey up' tends to mean something along the lines of 'Hello'

I always struggled with that one. :(

On a slightly related note though, I have in the past spent several whole minutes arguing over whether 'book' and 'buck' have different pronunciations.

If you're a proper northerner they do.

Book should have a long ew sound in it, rather than the short u sound.

To illustrate: fook instead of fuck.

Well in the case of proper northerners, obviously.

I believe the conversation was with a southerner though, who put a hint of an 'a' sound in 'buck' and tried to tell me I didn't talk proper. :(

I've seen a lot of American's using the word teh, fook, etc. Don't think they know what it means or where it comes from.

btw, teh = the? As in.. going t'boozer?

Back is not a paper thing with writing on it.

Southern language is used by twunts.

The Southern language is the proper way of speaking. The Northern way just sounds like noise ;).

    teh is 1337 for the.

The ellided the in t'boozer is just a t sound (or, in many cases now, such as with my voice, a glottal stop), not a full word.

    North Yorkshire or Esturary English?

Given that Zoe Ball speaks with the latter?

I'd far rather have a voice/accent/dialect with character than a bland southern one. ;)

I do have an accent :p.

Anyroad is not a northern word, and if it is, we stole it 10 seconds after it was invented and put it to much better purpose as well as executing it more gracefully.

A boy i met this summer was a northener and some of the things he said i'd never even understood like the 'teh' and a few others i can't remember, now i get it!
i thought it was kinda sexy though..:D

I fucking hate the way Northe... (eh... Southerners to me I guess!) talk.

It seems only the poor, working class (usually neds) talk stereotypical Glaswegian/Scouse/whatever, yet the Northerners actually seem to be proud of their illiteracy

What's the deal? It's just fucking annoying!

    Ned = townie.

Glasgow invented the little fuckers, we get to name them. Seriously, is there any need for the English having 2834982 shit names for them? ;[
