Windows XP keyboard shortcuts

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hi,
I was wondering if you could supply me with some useful WinXP shortcuts.

the ones I find most useful so far are:

ALT-F4: exits current application/window (push several times to shut down windows with U)
ALT-TAB: cycles through active applications
WIN-E: opens the explorer
select a file then press F2: rename file
select a file then press SHIFT-DEL: delete a file permanently (i.e. without it being transfered to the recycle bin)
WIN-M: minimize to desktop
WIN-SHIFT-M: restore window layout (after having pressed WIN-M)
in MS Outlook Express CTRL-M: Send & Receive Mail

what else is there to know?
what I'm looking for atm is the shortcut for the windows calculator.

I have 98, but these should work in XP too. I think it's the rest of the uses for the WIN key.

    WIN-R: Run file dialogue box
    WIN-F: Find file dialogue box

you need to go to win-R and then type in calc - there might be a quicker way but I don't know it

I want to know how to bring up internet explorer from the run menu

    winkey + L = lock workstation
    winkey + D = show/hide desktop (better alternative to winkey+m & winkey+shift+m)

This isn't an XP question really but an office one - but you used to be able to send an email by going Ctrl + Enter but in the newer versions of outlook you can't do that - whats the short cut for sending an email???

Mark all news messages as read CTRL+SHIFT+A
    Go to a newsgroup CTRL+W
Expand a news conversation (show all responses) LEFT ARROW or PLUS SIGN (+)
Collapse a news conversation (hide messages) RIGHT ARROW or MINUS SIGN (-)

ALT+S works but CTRL+ENTER just puts a new line in the message - but thats in outlook 2002 it works fine in 2000 and earlier.
