UCL
ICL
Birmingham
Manchester
Exeter
Durham
Warwick
Newcastle
Essex
SOAS
Cardiff
Bristol
Nottingham

Are you not going to give reasons for the above and explain why they're good and others aren't?

Dude, Essex, what degree is any good from there apart from the "get knocked up at 14" degree and the Masters at "wearing a skirt that resembles a belt".

You missed out Bristol, and Southampton HAS to be in there. not sure how you got your list. I'm tempted to say you just robbed up 3/4 of the Russel Group.

The university that I go to is second only to Cambridge in terms of graduate employment in Britain yet you have not mentioned it. It doesn't have the prestige that the universities you have mentioned has but still..............

actually Essex university has an EXCELLENT reputation, especially for research, maths and computer science.
You can go to any university you like but a fucked up prejudiced snobby attitude will get you nowhere.

Erm, Liverpool and Sheffield?!! Excellent teaching, reputation, employment prospects, AND great unions. I'd say that's not a bad conbination. Plus they're both original universities.

    BTW, this thread is ridiculous.

At the end of the day different unis have different reputations, it's impossible to catergorise a few of them as the best!!

So Dundee, which I'm applying for next year, isn't on your conducted "list" yet for my subject it ranked third in the UK league tables.

Should I still "seek employment" because, according to you, it's a bad university?

Yes you should, how dare you even consider going somewhere which is not even on the widely respected 'Drol Edyortnuh list of approved universities for 2004'!

at the end of the day, your employment chances are based on your work experience, knowledge and personal qualities, and it makes chuff all difference what uni you went to.

someone with a first from oxford might get a lot of interviews, but if they come across badly in the interview, and the person with a 2:2 in hard knocks from the university of life comes in with 10 years relevant experience, 2 flawless references and a suitable temperament, who do you think will get the job?

This thread has actually made me scare the cat I've laughed so much.

I'm not going to repeat my views about universities again because they're already floating all over this forum for anyone to see.

However, I would just like to take this opportunity to congratulate Drol Edyortnuh for being a complete and utter moron.

University League Tables mean nothing, I thought you'd know that.

    Oxford or Cambridge no doubt.

League tables shouldn't be the decider on your institution, but they certainly don't mean nothing.

Anyway, I'm only fueling you by responding and I'm sure your views are a blatant attempt to cause controversy and conflict.

I was trying to work out what his name was...

Interesting that his DOB is 1988- therefore proving he knows the square root of fuck all.

Oh, and reputation does count for quite a lot, far more than University League Tables. My LLB Hons (Dunelm) counts for more than one from Northumbria, say, even though the Northumbria Law dept. isn't worse.

Durham is the 13th uni in the country on The Times list, but most people see it as 3rd behind Oxbridge.

Oh GOD he's here now :eek2:

Also, what about individual rankings for subjects, if you're going to go down the league tables route?

It all comes down to personal preference. I'd much rather spend 3 years somewhere that i like than spend 3 years at a 'good' - by your standards university - and resent every minute spent working there. And i'd do better at the uni i wanted to be at.

    WTF?!

    Where's Liverpool?

Our teaching is great in most departments, a few are renowned across the UK, and the facilities here are second to none. :eek2:

    This thread is ridiculous.
