As anyone who has looked at my faceparty page might have guessed, I'm quite fond of ships. So next month I'm starting an apprenticeship with Clyde Maring training to become an Engineering officer in the Merchant navy. I'm hoping this will be a lot more fun than my current job.

    Update: Its now four months down the line, I have just finished college and I am due to join my first ship on the 29th of December. (New year at sea, bummer.) She is the Stena Seatrader, a ro-ro ferry travveling from Killingholme (Immingham) to the Hook of Holland. Like all Stena ships, the crew are not allowed alcohol. This has its merits (I'm not going to turn up on my first day to find my colleagues pissed) but 3 months without beer (especially at new year) is going to go rather slowly.

    Well, this is it. My final message before I go to sea. I doubt I'll have internet access on the Ferry so I won't be posting here for the next three months.
