Anyone recommend any decent gangsta filmage? I've got The Godfather 1/2/3, Donnie Brascoe, Scareface, The Krays, Pulp Fiction, Casino and so that's about it.

    Long Good Friday
    Mona Lisa
    Get Carter
    King of New York
    Millers Crossing

If you like classics, look out for Angels With Dirty Faces - James Cagney.

    Also recommend John Woo films.

Heat is very good, not quite gangsta I suppose but a very good crime drama none the less.

Ahh yeah how could not already own Goodfellas. That was on the other night, the bit where he slaps that bloke about with the butt of the gun lol.

Just been reading about Gangsta number 1, sounds pretty cool. Will go pick up a copy of that. Will look up some of the others.

EDIT: Yeah I got heat just because it is quite a classic. Got Snatch as well but think it is a bit crap.
    Cheers.

Probably worth not missing the Gangsta movies of the 90s

    Menace II Society
    New Jack City
    Mi Vida Loca
    Boyz in the Hood

    not to mention

Once Upon a Time in America
    Bugsy
The Sopranos is always worth a watch if you've got the time
    Public Enemy
    Bonnie and Clyde
    Dillinger

and Woo already got a mention so I'd recommend his Bullet in the Head (out in a couple of weeks in a new DVD package) - one of the best movies for showing a totally different perspective on Vietnam (in this case small time Hong Kong crooks)

Anyway not all specifically ganster movies but in the same ballpark.

First stop though - Millers Crossing and Get Carter, pretty much the best anyone has suggested here.

Boyz in the Hood? I'm not convinced that has aged all that well.

aged better than Cobra, not that that's relevant in any way :)

Cobra! I think that was my first action film I ever watched. Also thought Boyz In The Hood was quite good. Never really bothered to watch The Sopranos though.

    Snatch
lock stock and two smoking barrels

    carlitos way

The usual suspects is really good, very clever but you cant really watch it more than a couple of times.
