ripping t shirts

im going to a concert soon and i wanted to customise a t shirt of mine by ripping it, to wear to the concert. how do i go about doing this? does the tear have to go in the direction the material is sewn? also i assume i need to cut a hole in the material to start the rip? any ideas much appreciated!! thanks:)

    take the t shirt in both hands, pullhands away from each other as hard and fast as you can.

    Id suggest getting a cigarette and putting holes into your t-shirt...that'll look pretty "raw"....or you could use lit sparklers and place them on top of the t-shirt. Failing those two just use scissors.
