DVD player question

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've got a pretty old DVD player, and putting in various music DVDs comes back with "playback restricted". Is that a problem with the player, or the DVDs themselves? Works fine with films.

Cheers.

Music DVDs tend to be multi-region or region free.. Maybe your player is choking on that.

Have you tried the DVDs in someone else's player?

if it happens to be a multi-region DVD player, there's software built into several DVDs on the market that stops them working in multi-region, so that you have to buy everything from your region and not be able to buy cheap DVDs from america
but looking up unlock codes MIGHT work if it's not multi-region, though not all players have them
alternatively, all i can think of is ditch your DVD player and get a new one...

As far as I'm aware, music DVD's are region free, so should play in any DVD player. But then you did say it was an old one. As already suggested, look up info on your player on the Net, see if you can find out why it's not working properly.
It may just be a fault?
Maybe it's just easier to treat yourself to a new budget player. They can be bought new from £30-40, and you can even get multi-region, or multi-region capable, players for that.
