Listen to yourselves..

Any Newbie that comes in, does something in their thread or posts to help them stand out by using the different formats and you all throw the head up. I've seen quite a few newbies on here, that got flamed cause they didn't set their threads or posts out the way you wanted them to and due to that, you rarely see them post again.

Fair enough, I understand about the bright colours and how they can effect people with their epilepsy or some other kind of default in their vision but for the rest... why make such a big fuss over it??

And yes, I know you're against the text talk on here and I can see why - but theres no need to bite their heads off. Just explain to ones that aint aware of it and let it go.

The Moderators are here to look after the board, not 'you'

i made a thread about this a couple of weeks/months ago. if you look closely normally people get a friendly warning in introduce yourselves first. it's when they come in here and nobody takes anything goes too seriously :p that people make their comments. they're not meant to be offensive really; it's just the way thesite ticks. i agree though it does put some people off!

But you will find some who doesn't go to introduce themselves - They come on to give or recieve advice - not to socialise or to be crictised about the way they post.

Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics: even if you win, you're still retarded. Classic quote ;D

And flaming noobs is an internet tradition, one bloke isn't gonna change everyone's opinions i'm afraid. Nothing much you can do, just hope people don't take it too seriously :]

I'm trying not to argue - just trying to make a point and hope people realise how harsh they can be sometimes to people that don't mean any harm.

Aint part of the reason why this site was made was to help people not to argue over silly things like how you are suppose to present your post.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
i was being sarcastic by the way, in case any offence was taken

    im confused

but i mean it about the new thread thing! the worse flaming is over threads that may show resembelence to a past one

if you were talking to someone IRL, and they were talking really loudly, or adding an R to ever other syllable or something else pointless and annoying, wouldn't you say 'why are you talking like that?'

just because this is the internet doesn't mean you can be all incoherent and hard to understand and get away with it.

    It doesn't say that here:
TheSite.org aims to offer the best guide to life for young adults, aged 16-25. TheSite believes that all young people have the capacity to make their own decisions and life choices, provided they have access to quality, impartial information and advice, and the opportunity to get support and empathy from other young people going through similar situations.

TheSite is objective, impartial and ethical. We don't tell anyone how to lead their lives - we just believe everybody should have all the information they need to make their own decisions in life.
    About Us

    But I see your point.

Get away with what? You make it out as if it's a crime!
If you don't understand them, ask what they mean - don't flame them.

so if i jump around in front of you with a big banner that had something on it that really pissed you off you'd walk off without saying anything?!

Bit of a difference - When someone is forcing something upon you - you push them out of the way - in this guess no one is making you read their posts if you don't like the way it is presented.. don't read it.

Bah - worst argument ever :p

You see a post that pisses you off for whatever reason - don't read it? You just did. Alas, the damage is already done. :(

I think sometimes the flaming can get a bit out of hand, but it's also the newbies responsibility to check out the forum before they start posting. The good manners guide, etc, aren't that hard to find or difficult to read. And if you look at a few posts in the forum you're going to post to, then you'll get an idea about what is and isn't accepted.

Yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah coz like when I joined I got no criticism only love and that's because I was given a link to this place by political mastermind Ginner cos he's, like, really coooooooooool and funny, and not offensive even though he is ginger and likes biscuits a lot and he gave me the link because I used to frequent another messageboard and it's now over-run with cretins so I came here so I can be your friend and you all took to me and anyone who can't take criticism from a faceless entity via the medium of text on a computer screen is a nonce and sorry about the lack of fullstops and stuff but I want criticism because IT GETS ME OFF.

don't take it all so personally, those who flame will respect you a lot more if you just brush their flaming off at the end of the day you don't know anyone (well not that I know of), so don't let a bunch of pixels piss you off

i haven't read any replies to this thread ...
this happens ...it's like a roundabout ...some of us are so settled and comfortable in here that burping and farting in front of each other is just one of those things ...so when someone steps onto the roundabout ...having walked through the filthy kitchen ...fishheads on the floor ...same slobs in the same moods day after day ...we either don't notice you for a while or you do something and ...you'' get a chair by the bar soon ...

If you post something bone and you're being a tosser we'll let you know. Simple. Sometimes you've got to be 'cruel 2 B kind'.

If you post something on here you have to realise that it's an invitation for people to reply. Some people are over the top and too quick to flame but you have to be prepared for that and to be crictised - and if you can't handle that maybe you should think about whether you should be posting on a public forum at all.

...and sometimes when people are arrogant enough to think that they don't have to make a little effort to 'fit in' TheSite community - they can expect to get grief.
