Power loss & Router

I noticed this first happening when i was attempting to set up my wireless router and usb adapter. I noted that the router which is connected to this pc would intermittently lose it's power connection.

The light would go off the lights all stop flashing and within seconds it would come right back like nothing had happened. I partly blamed this for the reason as to why i couldn't get the wireless connection established [that was amongst other shit though].

It was also the reason i believe i was and still occasionally do get lose my connection with WLM.

Well it stopped happening after i gave up trying to set up the wireless connection and it was working fine but for the last couple of days it has come back with a vengeance !

Last night standing in the room in the darkness i noticed the power pack light seemed to go off & back on numerous times. I wasn't sure if another wire was just getting in the way and making me think i saw it going off and on but as the pc was off i didn't stop to check.

Well today it's happening again. I'm at a loss as to explaining why it's happening but i can only conclude that either the router & power pack are faulty or there are surges in the sockets causing the router to constantly switch off and on again.

As is usual with me i've lost my receipt ! But they took my details as per usual so i can go get a copy, that and I'm friends with the deputy manager so it's cool anyway.

Just curious as to if anyone else has suffered from this or anything similar ...

I found plugging my router into an extention cord created instability every 20 mins. Always keep it plugged into the wall since then! Don't understand it, just found what worked for me.

Sadly i only have one wall socket in my room which means i have to run multi socket adapters. Which also means i cannot try connecting the router right into it's own socket. Bugger !

    Danger!! Danger!!
Don't need me to tell you the hazards involved in stacking adapter on adapter. Fire. Surges. The list goes on.

You can easily add another power socket at minimal cost or invest in a surge protector

Already got a surge protector but than kyou NinjaMaster;)

As for adding another wall socket, when i mentioned that to my father he didnt seem interested so that'll be a non starter.

Might try buying another surge protector though and seeing how that works with everything.

Basically everything computer related BAR the router is plugged into a surge protector. Everything else like tv freeview recorder 360 etc etc is through a standard multi socket adapter.
