Ones made out of fried-up bacon. But if not that, lilacs smell like spring.

off topic but i was at work on sunday and i served this rather attractive man and his little son. they bought normal shopping then a bunch of flowers - the little boy was really concerned that they were okay and that they were still there. turns out they were his favourite flowers! aww! if he wasn't about 3 years old and cute with a sexy dad he wouldn't have got away with that.

I would go for a plant rather than flowers, it's a bit threatening to [most] men's masculinity to buy them a dozen roses.

I have bought men sunflowers before though, and big bunches of balloons (neither go down too well )

My girlfriend bought my roses. Loved them!

I kept them in the vase for about 6 weeks after they'd died. They looked pretty cool, dried out and everything. She demanded I chuck them when she came round to see them though :grump:

Men should only get flowers at their funeral.

    agreed.

i kinda find flowers pointless, they cost a fortune and then just die. same as i aint a big fan of cards, you buy them, they get chucked away.
    (i still buy them tho)

plants are such a better option.

IF it has to be flowers I agree with briggi tho. Make it a plant. Like marijuana. They sell them legally if they don't have any (or very less) thc, looks fine, smells fine.

Other than than Venus Fly Trap, or even better Sonnentau. Dunno the english word for it, but it's a carnivore plant as well, with 'sticky fingers' to catch their prey.

Get a plant, not flowers. At the risk of annoying those in the 'That is totally gay' thread, that is totally gay.

Why not get something like a Bonzai Tree? I had one of those in my room at uni halls in first year.

Venus Fly Traps are OK, I had one of those as well, but I wasn't overly impressed, and they don't look so nice.

Cacti are another good choice, and they don't require too much care and attention - what more could a man want?!

A funky little plant could work, give him a wee cactus or something.

I’d go that bit further and get him a neon lava lamp.

Absoloutely agree with the bonsai tree :). But they're require a little attention, so maybe a plant, but I woulden't go for flowers personally.

    I'd love a bonsai though if you're buying :)

With the risk of looking like a big poofy poof, I'd quite like it if someone got flowers for me, lillies are my personal favourite.

I think it depends on the guy. Plenty of guys have a flower they quite like. maybe it might take some getting over the psychological thing of recieving flowers, as traditionally its the guy getting them for a girl, so obviously there is a HUGE fear that getting flowers will turn a man gay.

I don't see the big deal. If a few roses are going to threaten your masculinity then personally I think you must have issues.

-I got a gift for you, hehehe!
-Um, ok, thanks. I thought you hated me. (opens the gift, it's a flower) NOOOOOOOOOOO! (after a flash of light he looks to be the same, but then sees a handsome guy across the street and runs at him making kissing sounds)

Hm.... I really don't think anyone would be afraid of the above happening. Unless they're severly delusional. :p

I have bought a guy flowers once, they were those big daisys in bright orange and lime green wrapped in black paper, it was as blokey as I could find.
However it totally depends on the guy, I know my current boyfriend would be totally insulted if I gave him flowers! Although he likes cacti, so maybe the cactus idea wasn't so bad....

I don't mind when a girl buys me flowers (it's the thought that counts), as long as she doesn't expect me to keep them somewhere...
But if she wanted me to keep it, a plant is definitely the way to go.
I once had a plant, called her Hilda, she lasted for 2 years and then died. Was very sad. And on that note...
