I was wondering about linux, can you get it on a Portable HD and run it through windows?

There's alot of talk about it and i might aswell try it

    Can't run it through Windows unless you configure a virtual machine. But you can download 'Live' discs, and run it directly from a CD :).

    Boo, i've got some version of Linux on CD but that's a yeah old and i dont know what one of the new versions will be like

    For what hardware? Linux supports a lot of hardwae these days.

    just download the love CD I linked to and try it for yourself, I'm 99% sure your hardware will be able to run.

    Tryed and tested it

    Was better then the version i had altough i could'nt find out how to access my Acataul Hard drive ect for files I was going to install it on the remaining Windows space but i did'nt dare

    Its alright although the I.M program kept cutting out

    Hard drives should be accessible through /etc/mnt/hda1, hda2, hdb1, etc, though this may not be automatically configured using a LiveCD. aMSN is a very good MSN clone, and runs on my machine for day after day without giving a problem. :)

    In Mandriva they are are found in My Devices although they will not be shown on that live CD so you have to access them via Run Command.
