my nanna had 'you'll never walk alone'. she supported liverpool and the lyrics are really nice. oh i'm sad now. :(

my mum and step-dad insist that they want 'always look on the bright side of life...'.

not sure what i want - i sometimes think oooh i'll have that at my funeral and mean to write it down but then forget about it.

"Ring Of fire" - Johnny Cash :p

Seriously, I was think about this the other day and at the moment I am looking at "Good Riddance " and "Ha-Ha You're Dead" by Green Day, they fit my sense of humour and I know that my family would understand that...

I was thinking about this yesterday, and I don't really know the answer.

My boyfriends grandad's funeral was yesterday, and he had Ava Maria as we arrived, a Celine Dion song (that I truly can't remember the name of now..) during the service, as it was his and his wifes song, and the main one was Frank Sinatra - My Way to finish. Because he truly did do it his way, and it ended up that after the "gathering", me, my boyfriend, the boyfriends brother and their grandma (the widow) walked back to her house singing it at the tops of our voices. :)

I actually think it's a pretty important thing to consider. I attended a funeral recently that reflected little to nothing of the deceased's beliefs or personality, so I would definitely say if you don't want "Nearer my God to Thee" then let it be known loudly and clearly while you're still alive.

I've considered loads, serious and daft, it's a conversation I seem to have with friends strangely often. Going Underground by The Jam or Another One Bites the Dust would be amusing, but I've always liked the idea of Wayfaring Stranger as sung by Joan Baez, or The Beatles' In My Life, Miracles of Nature by Christy Moore or even The Parting Glass in that cheesy old Celtic tradition.

However I have decided for the moment on Send in the Clowns, as performed by an off-key drag queen of course. So if I die in the next month or so, that'll be the one for me :D

eta: The "best" (most fitting?) song I have heard at a funeral was Into The Mystic by Van Morrison. It was just perfect.

Either Imagine by Lennon, or Across the Universe by the Beatles.

I'd also like Desiderata by Max Ehrmann read out.

I don't want a Christian funeral... Maybe a humanist one.

I've got no idea. The last funeral I went to, she had Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky. That was a good choice.

    Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be - AC/DC
Highway To Hell - AC/DC (as performed by Marilyn Manson)
Black Label Society - Funeral Ball
Pantera - Cemetary Gates or Hollow

Radiohead - Climbing Up The Walls, because it sounds like the end of the world (which let's face it, it might as well be if I'm not in it)
The Smiths - There Is A Light
The Flaming Lips - Feeling Yourself Disintegrate
    Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye
Radiohead - Exit Music (For A Film)
Radiohead - Bullet Proof (I Wish I Was)

Yep, and if anyone isn't crying by the end, I'll have people torture them until they are.

At my friends funeral last year, as the coffin came in Time of your Life by Greenday was playing, during the service we all sang along to Angels by robbie, and at the end was Wonderwall by Oasis, which i thought were really nice songs to have, especially for someone so young.
