SANEmail Young Persons' Panel

SANE, the UK-wide mental health charity, wishes to recruit volunteers aged 16-25 to form a Young Persons’ Panel which will meet/correspond regularly to discuss the running and development of the new SANEmail email support service, launching early next year. The panel will consist of core members who will meet three times a year in London and email members, who will be required to correspond regularly by email.

SANEmail, which is fully funded by The Vodafone UK Foundation, will run alongside the organisation’s helpline, SANELINE, to provide an additional channel of support to those affected by mental health issues. In particular, the service will aim to provide support, information and signposting to the increasing number of young people who are affected by mental health problems.

SANE is looking for young people who are interested in mental health and wish to become involved in a charity. No previous experience is needed, but good communication skills, commitment to the project for a year from January 2007 and a willingness to work in a diverse team are required. Applications are particularly welcome from those who have been personally affected by mental health issues. Core members must be based in the Greater London area. Email members may be based anywhere else in the UK.

SANE believes that the views of panel members from across the UK, will make an invaluable contribution to the successful delivery of this exciting new service.

For further information and an application pack, please visit our website, www.sane.org.uk, or contact Rochelle Batten, SANEmail Co-ordinator, on 020 7422 5536.

Closing date for applications: 5.00pm on 11th December 2006
