Thats what I would have assumed (though I've never heard anybody talk about anything but BBC1-4, does anybody watch any other channels? )
Plus most only do broadcast, basic cable and about 5 premium channels, which is only about 70 channels.
Heres the thickness of this week's Chicago TV Week.
Doesn't sound like a cable equlivent at all. More like satalite or various extended options. Cable has around 40 channels including several news, sports, MTV, VH1, comedy central, cartoon and those kinds of things. Adding premium will costs a beating to get you about 5 extra real channels which are mostly movie channels and HBO. You'll also get a couple music channels. One day's of channels fits on one 8.5x11 page of the tv guide.
Currently you can also add on HD which gives you about 3 channels that anybody would actually watch plus some spanish stations for another unruly amount. There are other packages you can add on to get you alot of crap channels.
Our area, actually, is contractually monopolized by one company. Most places you have several to choose from but our town is stupid and sold themselves to one single company so you can either be bum molested by them to get anything besides basic cable (though they rake you over the coals for even that) or get satalite which those companies will take advantage of you too.
