Winter jackets

I'm after a new winter jacket, something not really thick but not really thin either.
I'm after something that i could wear either with trackies and a t-shirt or with jeans and a smart jumper and it still look good/fashionable.
Everything i've seen so far is either an old parka style coat with a furry hood, or a military style coat with stupid big shiney buttons and tbh i like neither.
Does anyone have any suggestions of coats or jackets they've seen that would be good for the autumn/winter months? - preferably one that is sold online so i can see a picture of it..
