Dissmissed just because of a photo

I have a friend who works in the travel industry and quite frankly has never known such harsh working terms and conditions in her life! Over the past few months she has slowely been 'used' and picked on by the other 2-3 members of staff in the travel agents and she began to feel harassed and isolated.
Then all of a suddern out of knowehere her work mate told managent that she'd got a picture of herself within a blog community waring her work uniform. She was emidiately escorted off the site pending an enquiry.

(it also turns out that the girl who told the manager has a profile site with nothing on there about the travel agency and has since closed it down, are companies alloud to interfear that much into peoples lives?)

3 weeks later and today has found out that she's to be dissmissed...now surely a dissmissal is bang out of order and over exagerated - there was no bad words, indecency or anything else that would jeapodise this travel agents reputation. Millions of people have blogs! This must happen all the time then surely?
She has kept her head down and tried her hardest as a trainee to get her qualification and they've treated her like muck.
She is currently seeking advice from a citizens advice but would love to hear of any other comments, suggestions or experiences anyone else might have had with this sort of thing....

Why should the employers care that she's wearing her work uniform in a picture on a blog? Seems incredibly petty to me.

A girl I used to work with was disciplined for appearing topless in Nuts magazine, even though she had said in the magazine she was a Student. Though customers did recognise her, so I can kinda see where they were coming from :chin:

If a company wants to sack you it will try everything it can to do so.

I wouldn't think that this is grounds for dismissal for gross misconduct, but if your face no longer fits they will use it against you unless you fight.

If I was your friend I would phoning my local community solicitor and gettign advice on sueing the arse off this company for constructive dismissial.
