Well...do you believe gender difference is psychologically inherent or a result of socialisation?

If you do...expecting chivalry is somewhat strange.

Tbh, I can't be arsed Spliffie, I really can't. On another day maybe, but I can't summon up the necessary energy to have ANOTHER discussion about something which (without meaning to sound horrendously arrogant) is my area of expertise, with someone who knows nothing or very little about it. It's tiring, and pointless. I think I'll save my energy to have these debates with people who've actually read the work of one feminist, or been involved with one feminist organisation, or actually had one reasonable conversation with a feminist where they tried to understand her views rather than somehow show her the error of her ways.

But this conversation is seriously a waste of everybody's time.

You know nothing about what I have or haven't read.

    Piss-poor evasion, btw.

I'm not evading anything, I'm just tired. But go on, enlighten me with what you know about feminism.

Let me know when you've published your book and i'll type up a critique.

Ok, well give me a couple of years, it'll take me that long to finish it, but when I have you're more than welcome to read it :)

Incidentally, have you read any feminist literature?

I've read a lot on the net - the f-word, etc.

Car Insurance - Women hit more stationary objects (Which are therefore less likley to claim back) whereas men hit more moving objects - cars, bikes, trucks etc - which claim back. Women aren't "safer drivers" - they just have accidnets that involve paying out to no-one elses car repairs. And I mean, come on... it takes skill and aim for us men to hit cars... trees aren't hard targets! :p

Feminism is chucked about too much, yes - some men shout "omg femenist" whenever a woman dares to do anything like ask for a pay rise or something. But feminism is ever present in todays society, good thing too. Shows that at last the West has come to give women the rights they were enjoying elsewhere before. Hard to believe it was only 70 odd years ago... our grandparents lived through this!

Femenist literature... such as? Don't expect me to pay for it either, it'd look most pecuiliar in a book shop! (Plus I have other things to spend money on - aka drinking.)

why are you so worried about Sophias personal standards.

    I am not.

As I see it, Sophia`s personal standards are no-one`s business except Sophia`s unless she wants them to be.

I was generally interested in what she had to say,and she appeared willing to do so.

Fuzzy logic. Just because you say something that I disagree with or, more importantly, could be shown to be false wouldn`t necessarily negate everything else that you have said.

And btw you assume too much ;)

Which could be problematic if the said "feminist" assumed that ;)

I'm not really assuming anything, that's just my experience. When people try to engage me in debates about feminism, which is very often, they don't usually want to understand my position or learn anything; they just want to tell me that I'm wrong. And one of the easiest tools they have at their disposal for that is somehow showing me up to be inconsistent and hypocritical, because then my whole case allegedly falls apart. I get a lot of practice at it tbh, being one of the only feminists in a university politics department full of old white academic men

Anyway, it's tiring and dull, so I'll get back to writing my thesis, and everyone else can get back to talking about Tom and Jerry :)

Fair enough, the cat doesn`t want to play. I, for one, would be interested if (when ;) ) you change your mind.
