New Look Job interview

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hey everyone.

I've applied for a job as a sales advisor in New Look and I just wondered if any of you have worked there before or been to an interview. If so, what was it like? What sort of questions did they ask you in the interview?

Also, ive never been for an interview in a fashion shop before so what do you think I should wear? Something fashionable or the smart black trouser and top look?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Been to hundreds of retail interviews and just wear something smart - it's pretty much like any other interview, you have to look well groomed and make an effort. Not too much makeup, not too much jewellery, but something simple yet up to date.
They'll ask you questions like 'why do you want to work for New Look' or give you some theoretical situations. They'll want to know how well you work in a team and that you can work on your own innitiative.

I would dress casual but also nothing flashy. Show good conservative taste. A more formal wear may show that you take the job seriously though. Depends on the position. Retail manager is completely different from VP of Marketing, judge accordingly.

    Questions would be regular.

Some of surprises may be along the lines of.

What do you know about our company?
What's your favorite product, have you ever shopped here?
What are some of your weaknesses or what are some of the difficulties you think that you will/have faced on the jobs?

I used to work at New Look!

i used to work at new look until recently...i had a group interview on mine...at first they gave us all a scenario..for example mine was a 29 year old woman going to an amy winehouse concert, and from that i had to put together an outfit fro her from all the clothes they had out (we had 5 mins to do this). They then sent us all out of the room after we had explained the outfit, and called back in the people they liked. After they asked me questions like: What shops are simular to new look, describe ur personal style, what do u think ur strengths and weaknesses are, describe a time where u had to complete somethign with a deadline, describe when u last had to prepare something . . . . etc

For mine, i wore a pair of black skinny jeans, court shoes, big earings, big bag, braclets and a smart/casual top. . . . . i would wear a suit or trousers...u have to look at the shop ur going to...new look specialises in casual wear so they wanna see wht sort of thing ud wear to work... :)

i hope it all goes well!! its not difficult at all! Just try to be confident and make sure you know what styles are in fashion atm!

    Good Luck!!

My friend used to work in New Look and another friend had an interview there and her advice was to try and wear something from New Look from the current season, like dress fashionably but smart.

Questions will be basic 'why do you want to work here', 'what could you bring to the job', 'what do you think is good customer service' and recently for the last few interviews I've been to I've been asked, 'how would your best mate describe you'.

    Good luck anyway

    Hey Jennyfd,
This is a really old thread now - it started back in 2006 - and so the interview will have been and gone. Thanks for the information you posted though and if you want to talk about interviews some more please do post a new thread :)
I am going to close this one now
