Can anyone explain to me what remanded in custody means?

I got a sort of idea but i need to really know what it is exactly.

It means you get kept in prison pending trial, but have not been convicted of any crime. Remand prisoners get treated slightly differently to convicted prisoners, and normally have a few extra benefits.

You can only have bail refused if the court believes you will commit further crime whilst on bail, that you are a danger to others, or that you are at risk from others (such as people standing trial for murdering kids).
