sore throat spot

for a few days now, just below my right tonsil ( just guessing ) is really really sore. its sore to swallow and hock crap up and the craps a funny colour, i thought i might have a finger nail lodged as i bite mine so ifound the spot and gave it a bit of a poke and it was mighty sore.
would penicillen clear this up?

    Dont take medicine that you have lying around! go to the doctors.
    You might just have a sore throat, you could have swollen glands, could be anything.
    Go to the docs, they'll sort it :thumb:

    its only on one side though, my brother appears to have something simaler but full on in his throat and he was at the hospital today, they jsut sent him home with penicillen.

    what do you reckon the deal is?
