    AltaVista is good for some things, but I way prefer Google, my favourite by far.

    i think www.ixquick.com is the fastest i know, but i tend to use yahoo for most of my stuff

    Google. Its the best. Ask Jeeves sucks, so does Lycos and all the other famous ones.

    AltaVista is good for images though.

    I think ask is good for returning more specific matches. Especially those for official sites that are quite obscure.

    Google is best for porn and free stuff.
