Shopping online?

Don't shop online until you've visited Impata.Com (www.impata.com).
It's all about e-commerce and reviews stores online before YOU buy from them.

Let me know what you think, we'd especially appreciate a response from TheSite.Org's users

I just thought I'd post a few things about security with regards to online shopping:

Shop using secure Web sites. Your browser also must support SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and all current versions of browsers do.

It's easy to tell if you're on a secure site as you'll usually see a message saying something like 'You have requested a secure document' or 'You are about to view pages over a secure server'.

Once you enter secure mode you will see a lock or a key (that is unbroken) in the bottom corner of your browser window. Should someone try to intercept your encrypted transmission, they will only be able to read gibberish.

Credit card issuers are working together to provide a new means of securely purchasing goods online, but it hasn't been introduced yet. In the meantime, know that online credit card transactions have a safety record comparable to credit card transactions over the phone, and better than in-person transactions.

Yeah, I was after a DVD from HMV.co.uk but there was alot of problems with my Switch card, so I thought fuck it.

If anyone knows any good and reliable (as in cheap) DVD websites, I would be grateful?

    Ilson

It's OK to post links to other sites if they are relevant or useful (and don't contain porn ), so long as you don't spend your whole time doing it, or turn into a viral marketer

but theres a card now that you can order, and it works the same as a top up card for your mobile, you goto a shop, get money placed on it, and use it for interenet shopping.

although you dont have ne credit, like a credit card, and as its a fairly new thing, there isnt alot of sites doing it yet (only about 75) i think it will get bigger and really popular

because if it gets stolen / hacked whatever can happen, you only have the amount of money you have placed on it , and cant get into ne big debts, also as your only likily to put money on when your about to buy something, its unlikily that that will get stolen

I shop online when I don't have time to go out to the shops to buy something; a book, for example, which can often involve searching through 5 or 6 book shops - amazon (should i delete that for advertising reasons? ) can do it in about 20 seconds.

With this card, I have to go to a shop and put the credit on, then come home, go online and order. Why not just buy the item while I'm at the shop?

Maybe I'm being too critical. I don't know. I just don't see the point of net shopping if the major bonus, the fact I don't need to go to the shops, is removed.

I only use an online shop if they have a contact phone number you can call if things go wrong.

Haha, thats the point of Impata.Com. You'll find contact numbers for all major stores at the site.
