What do people think of The Streets.

Ive been a fan since before the release of original pirate material and i think they are great. not a massive ultra fan or anything but quality tunage.

A grand dont come for free was ok but not as good.

After listening to a advance copy of The Hardest Way to Make an easy living im severly impressed.

so basically...chav tripe or quality music?

I'm not that big a fan tbh... but my mate wants to go and see them in Manchester next month and I'm going to go with her. I think they'd be ace live.

I only have Original Pirate Material, which I used to be mad on. Not so bothered anymore. I like his style, though :D.

Quality. I likes. I have the 1st and 2nd albums. Getting the new single - but only on 7" coz it has a brilliant B-side.. cover of the new single by Bromheads. :D

Dont mug urself is a fucking tune, wicked lyrics!

I was tempted to go see them play at Brixton last month, but no one else was up for it... :(

i like that blinded by the lights song too, not many others. credit to them though, they made an effort at reading the other year to do a kind of 'rock' set which i was impressed by.

I like some of their songs, The Irony of it All and Blinded by the Lights are top tunes...not so fussed about the new song though, hardly original lyrics now are they? Seen them live too, they were shit live.

Fantastic. One of the only originals for a while imo. Mike Skinner is a lyrical genious. Didn't like a grand don't come for free as much as original pirate material, although it was still fantastic.

I like most of what I've heard.

I haaated that one "Fit But You Know It" song, though.

OPM was great. Not that keen on the rest of his stuff though.

I never got behind the idea that Mike Skinner was some kind of prophet from the streets or some kind of messiah or something like he was made out to be in the beggining. But i do like what The Streets do and i think they're good testament to the fact that music can and indeed does cross boundaries that most say cant and shouldnt be crossed....they kind of remind me of The Prodigy in their cross-over of appeal to different genre fans.

I must admit I like them. Some of the lyrics are so bad they are good though.

I liked them for aggggges, despite being a normally-rock music person. OPM was better then grand... but I LOVE the new single, and can't wait for the new album know.

    *bump*

I went to the gig in Manchester last night and it was fucking brilliant. Mike Skinner jumped onto the crown right above my head and I touched his face... get the fuck in. :D

Bought the album too, I'm impressed but then I haven't got their other albums. Just borrowed A Grand... to see which is better but I prefer the new one.

Anyone else going to see them?

I was meant to be going to see them cause my mate works at The Puregroove record store who's their label. But alas, no room on the guest list last night. :(

I did get a copy of his new album for free. Yaaas. :D
