The concept of George Orwell 1984 Big Brother book has been here for some time, but since our Big Brother does not show us the same kind of controls that is why we have hard time to recognize him!
This is part one of a three part article.
Only by careful observations of the events you may recognize his existence. Let me give some examples then you know what I mean. When WWII started on September 1939 American economy was almost had come back to the state of normalcy; recovering from sever Depression of 1928. President Roosevelt had started massive public projects to revive the economy. During WWII US productivity soared. While millions of best American work forces were over seas fighting the war, even with that handicap, Americans at home left the legacy that US was truly the Arsenal of the Democracy. This period rightfully is called the greatest generation of Americans. That is true, since they fought heroically and they set amazing records in production for war material and consumers goods. And after the war American Economy kept humming and it helped to revive the economy of many ruined countries. This gave rise to the myth that "War Helps US Economy!" But war does not produce wealth, it destroys wealth. Of course few businesses benefited during the war since there were strong demands for their services. But US Government paid for most of those services.
In any era war has destroyed the wealth of nations, unless it has replenished it with looting of the defeated countries. In eighteen century because of war with England France treasury was depleted, and that gave rise to French Revolution. France lost her livelihood in Vietnam and in Algeria. England lost so much of her assets in US independent war. Falkland war was so costly for England. Many African countries were ruined because of wars. But how come US economy benefited so much because of WWII?
Where did US get her money to do all those productions during WWII? The course "Economy USA" on PBS answers that puzzle this way; for war efforts US Government spent money to produce goods then that infusion of money revived the private sector, then private sectors paid more taxes and so on. The course does point out that during the war the whole chart of US Economy shifted upward, and the course gives some nonsense explanation for this Mysterious Behavior. If that explanation is correct then US government should keep doing the same trick whenever her economy slows down! By spending on public projects it should help the economy to prosper and everybody would benefit from high economy activities! Then cutting public projects should be considered harmful for US economy!
At present time US economy even with much greater productivity (Because of automation and hi-tech processing) fails to pay her own bills, and US work force are working as hard as any time. Some people would argue that "War on Terror" has caused the budget deficit. But we were told that "War Helps US Economy!" During WWII there was no creditor outside of the United States to pay for HUGE US Government spending. As you see clearly something does not make any sense. During WWII that HUGE, I mean UNBELIEVABLY HUGE, infusion of money into US economy was coming from somewhere. US government was the Major Buyer of the American productions to supply all theaters of the War. The American Public alone could have not produced that kind of money to pay for all those goods. Just remember American Public was recovering from a Nasty Depression. Who had the deep pocket to provide for the War efforts?
I wonder how in Depression 1928 money was so mysteriously disappeared from US Economy, and how it appeared so Generously during the War time. The magician plays his magic right in front of us and we have no clue how he does it! You see ample evidence of similar magic in the Stock Market everyday. In these days when we do have accurate data about most of the operations of the companies nobody can give a PLAUSIBLE argument why any stock price behaves the way they do. The most SUCCESSFUL FINANCIAL ANALYST may have 75% success rate selecting stocks, this is like the doctors diagnose their patients with 75% accuracy!
In 1901 John D. Rockefeller Jr. married Abby Greene Alderidge, daughter of Rhode Island Senator; who was a powerful US Senator. One reporter warned: "The chief exploiter of the American people is now closely allied by marriage with the chief Skimmer."
In 1929 John D. Rockefeller built the Grand Riverside Church. Christian fundamentalists were worried that the richest man in the world extending his influences to the religious ground. One preacher put it this way: "When one man can control the financial world, the educational world, and practically the religious world the day of anti Christ is not far behind."
In John D. Rockefeller web site it is mentioned: "1902 an audit showed Rockefeller was worth about $200 million". I think this figure is way too low; knowing how mysterious John D. Rockefeller was operating his business that is normal to hear that his asset according to the PUBLIC RECORD was that little! It was reported that by 1906 Standard Oil had paid $551,992,904 in dividends, and this was just the dividend part. Knowing that John D. Rockefeller had the controlling shares in Standard Oil, you can imagine what would be his asset by then. I saw somewhere at turn of century his asset was $960 million dollar. Knowing he accumulated that huge fortune from SCRATCH in a period of about forty years from the oil industry which its main product was Kerosine for cooking and lighting, then you can imagine what would be their fortune when the oil industry's products has been fueling the industrial engine of the World for over a century. In about fifteen years Bill Gate's fortune rose over $27 billion (Of course this is the figure after the collapse of hi-tech stocks.)from an industry which only deals with just a portion of the population, and that is just occasional sale of softwares, while everybody who has a car buys gas every week! And by the events of 1914 in Ludlow Colorado coal mine we know that Rockefellers' interests was NOT just limited to the oil industry.
Laura Rockefeller, John D. Rockefeller Junior's mother, advised her son: "You are the son of the king of the kings. So you will never do the things that dishonor your father or to be disloyal to the king."

In 1953 CIA led a military coup d' etat to restore Shah of Iran to his throne(This event has been fully documented and it is in public domain). After those events Shah wised up and started to take an active role in running the country. Shah built a modern army, which at that time it was ranked sixth strongest army in the world. Shah had full control of Iran forces and all his generals were feared him enormously. Even though there were elections and prime minister was running the affairs of the State but Shah's role was superim; similar to Saddam or Stalin. Shah was feared by all Iranians and his control was absolute. In 1970 I needed to serve two years in military in order to be allowed to travel outside of Iran. I was serving in city of Hamadon, which is about 170 miles west of Tehran and had around 90,000 population. In some ceremony which we had to march in town, we were marching in front of a portrait of Shah! Few time the Commanding General of our fort gathered the officers for some ceremony in the officers' club, he kissed Shah's picture as if Shah was a deity.
In 1986 General Robert E. Huyser wrote a book entitled "Mission to Tehran". In his book Gen. Huyser claims he wrote his book "to eliminate some of the misconceptions and misrepresentations which have grown around his mission to Tehran." Around 1987 Gen. Huyser appeared in a talk show to promote his book. In that talk show Gen. Huyser expressed his "Mission to Tehran" was to facilitate the removal of Shah from power. He said couple days after he arrived in Tehran in 1978 he ordered the opposition to preform a street demonstration against Shah, and next day 350,000 people demonstrated against Shah's regime. He said his mission was part of global effort of US; exerting American power to manipulate the policies of other governments. In that interview Gen. Huyser mentioned that he had told the American embassy staff that "his mission was to remove Shah out of power and he will throw him out of Iran like a dead mouse." Recently I bought Gen. Huyser's book to confirm that quote accurately, but the book does not offer that quote! However the book says Associated Press, Paris, 8 December 1979: 'Shah Claims He Was Thrown Out Like A Dead Mouse.'
While during those days such huge changes were happening in Iran and there were few under-ground nationalist and socialist organizations which had been opposing Shah's regime and US operation in Iran for long time, Soviet Union which was the Northern neighbor of Iran, and they were SO DESPERATE to expand the sphere of their influence to the Persian Gulf they did dare to take any advantage of the Events in Iran. We also need to remember the revolution in Iran was not a religious revolution. After the collapse of Shah's regime for seven month a secular government was in control of Iran. All those nationalist and socialist under-ground organizations which they were just interested to serve the country they started to operate openly, freely, and democratically. This seven month is labelled as "Spring of Freedom". During this period all those under-ground nationalist and socialist elements were identified thoroughly, and then the Mullahs were ELECTED to power! And then Mullahs took care of those Nationalist and Socialist Freedom Fighters very effectively!
For the evidence, since I do not have the tape of Gen. Huyser in that talk show, then someone would argue that my assertion that Gen. Huyser removed Shah out of power does not make any sense; since Shah was friendly to US and these Mullahs are so hostile to US. To answer these critics, I have to say the direction of the Events in Iran were NOT a miscalculation on part of US, rather than everything were according to US plan! Let me explain; we have to remember Shah's ambition when he was in power. In an interview with Mike Wallace which was broadcasted in 60 minutes in 1970s;
Shah: "The brown eyes would like to teach the blue eyes a lesson."
Mike Wallace: "Are you indicating that the blue eyes have fallen asleep?"
Shah: "No, but they are using too much tranquilizers!"
In 1970s Shah had contracted with US, Japan, France, England, and Germany to build 70 Atomic Power Plants in Iran. Iran Government had sent few thousand students to technical schools in those countries to be educated for nuclear technologies. Since some of the institution in US, like MIT, could not handle that many students, Iran Government had provided special fund for those school to schedule new classes just for the Iranian students. One of my classmate from Iran was part of that nuclear technology program. Since some of those students could not acquire student visa, Iran Government had provided them with diplomatic passports to secure their entry to US.
After the Mullahs took over Iran, I was curious what happened to those nuclear power plants which had started during Shah's regime. A friend of mine who was living in Iran at that time said; "one plant was 95% complete. Then, Mullahs preached that Iran did not need to bother with high technologies, they only needed to build the basic industries. So, they dismantled the pipes in the power plant and they used them for water projects." As you see the timing of ALL THE EVENTS, Then and Now, are so precise!
These days knowing building few nuclear power plants in Iran what an uproar has created in international scene, you can GUESS, what kind of concern the policy designer would have had about Shah's ambitions.
Removing Shah out of his power, in height of his might, so easily does portrait how easily US could control the power holders in other nations. Also, in 1997, US did removed Slobodan Milosevic out of his power without a single casualty to US troops. I do not think removing Saddam needed this much hassle and chaos.

This is part three of 1984 Big Brother.
Couple weeks ago Charlie Rose was hosting Natalie Postman, she is the actress of a new movie called "V Stands for Vendetta". Watching that program did not impress me about the movie. I thought that was another action movie to please the viewers with fantastic special effects which looks silly to me! The other night I was flipping the channels, I saw a program on MTV which were discussing the same movie and Natalie Postman was with a host and there were six other people as audience who had seen the movie and they were discussing the political message of the movie which was undermining US policies of "war on terror".
From the outlooks and the uniform ideology amongst the audience and the host I felt that production was designed and carefully orchestrated to criticize the establishment. The audience were complementing each others' comments in criticizing US conducts on War on Terror. In my view since no such pointed criticism would get that kind of exposure without the approval of the establishment then I concluded that program and the "V" movie itself must be a production designed and promoted by the establishment!
The audience were legitimizing today's terrorists activities as they were fighting against US aggression in their country. In a sense they were justifying Osama Bin Ladan's approach that these terrorists had no other means to fight for their Freedom, even though killing of the innocent people were deplorable but these Freedom Fighters did not have any sophisticated weapons to fight back against the aggressor. One audience pointed out the war of American Independence of 1776 had similar violence tone when the mobs destroyed the tea bags in Boston harbor. They said that was a violence act which was against the rule of law in the society at that time. "The Americans were revolting against an oppressive regime." They pointed out that the American people are empowered by their constitution to take arms against their own government if their government become oppressive. These audience expressed putting hood over the heads of the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharib prison were similar oppressive technique which were shown in "V" movie, and that needed to be stopped.
Watching those open criticisms against US policies baffled me why the System would bring these kinds of absolute self criticism arguments to the public domain. Then, it down on me that the author of the "1984" had no imagination in portraying the control of the Big Brother. His story line is too symbolic and his description of the control is absurdly pointless! "1984" story lacks the imagination to offer an effective and practical means of controlling the public! In todays societies our Big Brother is operating way beyond our common imaginations! His masterful controls are so brilliant! Aren't you amused by the damaging self criticism which "V Stands for Vendetta" movie offers? And we were complaining that Our Big Brother was destroying our civil liberties! In this open and Free medium we have been encouraged to advertise our thoughts with absolute Freedom. We do understand that our criticism does not change anything, but we are Free to express them anyway! Our Big Brother is truly showing us his resiliency! This reminds me of 1973 movie "The Sting". In that movie we were amused to see many plots overriding each other and we enjoyed it so much when the master plot were revealed!
Often I have wondered; why our Big Brother intentionally exposed so openly his control over the US Political Events? And now, I observed that we are fed with the idea of a violent revolutionary fervor to fight for our Freedom! It seems our Big Brother is bored and he is looking for some amusements! But no thanks, I do not have the Guts or the foolishness to oblige him with that kind of Challenge!
From the trend of the events I see that our Big Brother is pushing the American people out of their Comfort Zone. I do need a very bright sociologist to explain the effect of the current hardship events on the American people. There must be a wisdom in this process which might demonstrate a magnificent wisdom.
I see that our Big Brother economically is empowering China and India. That is a good news for our humanity. However enriching those societies in the same wasteful pattern of materialistic mentality like the US society that would just accelerate the destruction of the Earth's limited global resources. One other point, even though I have sensed the mysterious force which is at play in the domain of people's religious belief which is as Real as the merits of our own existence, of course with a different view for grasping our Realty, but I think the system is focusing on the issues which empowers wrong fanatic religious groups. If the media and the politicians ignore the challenges of abortion there will be no such issue to dominate US politics. In Europe and Australia there isn't such focused debate on abortion which is needed to comply with the scripture's interpretation. But who am I to criticize the actions of our Big Brother who probably has the brightest minds working for him.

On the subject of Election 2000 Patrick J. Buchanan commented; In Presidential Election 2000, in Florida Palm Beach County Butterfly Ballot Design I got unusually high Votes. That probably cost Al Gore the presidency, so I was an instrument for George Bush to win the presidency. "Please don't pull that Stunt again!"
