You dont have the right to protest if you have to apply for a permit to do it. That makes it a privelage, nothing more.

and which govt started that ball rolling? Yep, the tories.

Doesnt matter to me. Only difference between the Tories and Labour is that they will tax cut and wage cut us to death, while Labour bury us in regulation and stealth taxes. Oh, and both have autocratic tendencies and an attitude to public service that would make Mussolini blush.

So what are we going to do about it? I think its more important rather than staging a 5 man protest to get the word out. Honestly - I hadn't heard of this at all before a few days ago. Will be posting up about it on my LJ and may even see if I can get some posters printed round college. Even though there's a lot of apathy, theres a small percentage who might care, but just dont realise.

We live in hideous times. The "oughts" will go down as one of those nasty little historical epochs in which Bad Things happen to dumb people, and things went wrong, and nobody cared, and nobody laughed, and nobody 'Fropped, and fear was the overriding emotion.

Future generations won't even want to talk about us, much as most people these days don't want to talk about the RUC and Northern Ireland in the 50s (Note: The Daily Mail is not a "people"). We'll be an embarrassment, and this decade will be skipped over in school history classes...or worse, it will be re-written to fit the ideals of new century...

...And then Tony Blair rode down out of the sky on a unicorn, and shot rainbows out of his ass, and all the terrorists ran away...

...But I doubt it. More likely, we will be given the same treatment that was given to scum like Adolf Hitler, Richard Nixon, or even Stephen Byers.

So what are we to do about it? Well, let's just look at this objectively: Not much, if what we aim to do is end the madness. Fact is, there isn't a whole lot we CAN do, other than wait for the public to wake the hell up, again.

On the other hand, if history is to judge us, why not get in some cheap yuks? Better to be hanged as a goat than a sheep, after all. If you are stuck in some bizarre nightmare version of the 50s, you may as well take a few pokes at the pigfuckers that are responsible.

We will march on a road of bones. Mahalo.

We can play the blame game all we like, but the point still remains - the Formation of the New Labour Dictatorship Bill, sorry, I mean, Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill, is a highly dangerous piece of legislation and must be defeated at any price.

:) my brother has already done so lol. He hates the UK, its overpriced, overpopulated, and all the 'benefits' we get with mod cons etc. are available all over the world, cheaper, and yet there are more relaxed atmospheres, its not about pushing yourself to 'be the best you can be', its about enjoying life. But thats besides from the point.

I will be writing to my MP to complain about this. Stephen Dorrell, however, doesn't seem to do much. He's very snidy, whenever I've wrote to him before he's written back saying it would be unfair of him to comment as he doesn't know. He gets other people to talk to me. I dont care about them. He's my representative.

So I think I will refer to him as Steve to try and get his attention :p

Start your letter by writing "Dear Bastard" or something like that. I doubt he'll be offended, as MPs get called much worse these days anyway... :p

Latest news is that the Lib Dems are opposed to this Bill. However, without Tory support (and given the cold reaction to Ken Clarke's speech against it), they are still doomed to fail....

Lazy Conservative Party. They're not fit to run a fruit stall, never mind be the opposition party.

Used the words "red tape", which is like the CBI's kryptonite. That or promised to use the law to destroy trade unions and remove minimum wage laws. One or the other.

Well, they did a deal with Dubya to make sure Britain got into the Iraq war come what may, so I wouldn't put it past this grubby, untrustworthy, dying government.

Yeah, right. You go on believing that. You might want to have another look at the laws on the Continent. Napoleonic Code based law, limits on freedom of speech.....

Besides, you'll be missing out on the party I'll be throwing here. I love planning ahead...

Wont matter by that point, if the Bill is passed. I'll be facing at least 2 years in prison for retroactive crimes anyway. We Discordians were born guilty. :thumb:

the lack of public outrage isn't surprising, when you consider the media is supposed to be the pillar of democracy it's no wonder the average citizen is fucking clueless......im just wondering how long before we see another "terrorist" attack, now that all the paperwork is in order........i just hope i'm not still here to see that day.
