Are you sure this isn't a horribly timed April fool?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
It feels like an April's Fool joke but somehow I fear it's for real.

In this compendium of all his statements, bin Laden does not name Batman personally, but attacks America as "the Great Satan" for exporting a culture of pornography and violence.

Haha I loved that bit, it's obviously Batman's fault the americans got terrorised really :D

the more i think qbout it ...the more disturbibg it seems.
    sad in fact.

anyone remember why superman came to the earth?
i'll remind you ...cos the best scientists on krypton had figured out the planet was dying.
so you'd expect superman to be saving our world from a similar fate but no ...he's just a copper catching people who steal money.

Superman was sent by his father to earth, because his father discovered that Krypton was doomed but his Government would not accept his finding that a natural disaster was coming. Then when superman grew up here and became a hero he didnt just catch criminals he took on alien invaders and even stopped the evil kryptinian supervillain Brainiac (currently portrayed by James Masters in Smallville).

Back in the 40's and the golden age of comics heroes were around to save the day, liek fighting the Nazi's and then protecting Democracy from Communism. Now Frank Miller, "Mr depressing nightmare of the future cynic" is doing the same thing but with Islamic extremism!

Sadly...you would think Batman had better things to do.

Just as comics were used to cement the prevailing (and fraudulent) paradigm of the Cold War era (i.e. The great Communist menace) into the minds of impressionable youngsters for generations, so too should noone find it surprising for a mainstream cultural propaganda vehicle like the comics industry to be incorporating, without question, the current political-agenda-advancing threat assertion of "Al Qaeda" today.

Could hardly have our superheros putting their crime fighting skills to work scrutinising the plausible treasonous betrayal of America and the world by its own leaders and official agencies, now could we? That would fly in the face of their duties as servants of the establishment!

I'm a real fan of Batman, I've even got have a complete outfit which I wear on special occasions. My girfriend has a Catwoman oufit and our mutual friend has a Robin outfit. We often met up to re-enact some dramatic scenes, its gives us a real buzz.

What will the Brits employ in their fight against Al Qaeda, the Great Evil of Terrorism - Wallace & Gromitt?

"Quick Robin, unplug the dialysis machine!"

Could be interesting. Frank Millar is a bit handy with the old felt tips.

Common sense? We've not tried that yet.........

Frank Miller is only good on occasions. His cynical anti-establishment attack on corporate America in "The Dark Knight Returns" but more so in its sequel were ok comics, BUT terrible pieces of art work i thought.

British comics has "Captain Britain" empowered by the magical island of Avalon to fight for us against terrorism.

It is nothing new for comics to stand by the establishment...but then again it is not unusual for comics to oppose the sytem and do the right thing. Depends on the artist and writers!

Zenith would kick his ass, assuming he didn't get bored.

Tank girl would probably take out the Americans in response to a bit of friendly fire.

Judge Dredd would probably use it as an excuse to invade a couple of countries who were strategically important to the needs of Megacity1

Planetary would investigate, and Drums would find the info trail leading from Bin Laden to the white house, but Elijah would link it to the Four

Don't forget the Thunderbirds! Puppet criminals require puppet crime fighters!

I think its pretty cool but its the wrong hero. They are gonna have to make up a story for Batman to get involved as the DC world has no New York!!!!

It would have made sense for Marvel to it. They did do a special 9/11 issue afterall.

Why isn't Captain America going after Osama? If Frank Miller is writing this, then why isn't Daredevil going for it? I mean he is in jail at the moment, this could be his way out. He has to take out Osama to win his freedom!

Of course the natural Marvel guy for the job is the Punisher, he goes for cirminals more then terrorists mind but he would be the one most likely to do the job.

Yes I am a comic fan.

Sounds like somebody forgot to tell George W Bush that Batman isn't real. :D

    Be a cool read though.

I just don't get why Batman is doing it. DC world isn't our world, Osama doesnt exist there.

It should be marvel heros going after him. I mean, 9/11 happened in their world!! Though that could have been the Ultimate world I am not sure.

The more I think about it, the more it seems that Bin Laden is Batman.

    Wealthy family? Check.
Crusade against people he thinks are evil? Check.
Strikes fear into people's hearts? Check.
    Has a cave? Check.
Fancy car? I'm sure there is a Bin-mobile out there somewhere.
    Utility belt? Check.
    Ragingly camp sidekick? Possibly..........

    Holy die infidels, die Batman!
