on the subject of covers, if you haven't heard this vocal arrangement of 'i predict a riot' by the kaiser chiefs, you are missing out.

i think i prefer it to the original.

All Saints - Under the Bridge was criminal and should have been banned under the Good Music Defamation Act.

Avril Lavigne's cover of Metallica's Fuel at the MTV Icon awards in 2003 was gut wrenching. At said awards, Snoop Dog's cover was pretty funny (can't remember what song he did) and Sum 41 rattled off a few good songs but then again, they are surprisingly adept musicians for their chosen genre.

stragnely yeh, they worship the ground iron miaden walk upon so they know what good music is :D

I absolutely hate the version done several years ago of 'Hey Baby' from Dirty Dancing. Grr. :grump:
On the otherhand, I am pleasantly surprised by Amy Whitehouse's cover of 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?'... If somebody had asked me beforehand if I'd be happy with it being covered, I would have been horrified. Lucky they didn't though, as I actually quite like it :thumb:

Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All along the Watchtower" was better than the original

Personally I think Guns and Roses cover of "Live and let Die" was good

And Trickys cover of "Black Steel" by Public Enemy was very good.

So you never can tell till you hear it,

    No, it wasn't. :p

Radiohead's live cover of Nobody Does it Better is a thing of beauty.

I think there's a lot to be said for the minimalism of the original. The harmonica is haunting, and that's what makes the song for me.

I'm only slightly biased, of course.

Britney's cover of "i love rock and roll" was just awful. some covers are better than the originals though, like Jamie Cullum's version of Frontin'

Death cab for cutie's version of this charming man. I once heard a cover of Stone Roses's I am the resurrection - whoever it was needs to die. Painfully.

Most people would probably agree with you here.

Despite being a fan of The Wedding Present, I think they've done rather bad covers of two great songs - 'Come up adn see me (make me smile)' and 'It's Not Unusual'. (however, the two live versions of INU are hilarious)

Did anybody get the pisstake of michael Jackson "the way you make me feel"
the version was "never copped a feel"
"I dont molest little kids now baby,,It dosnt turn me on"

I had that song going in my head so I had to download the original to try and replace it.

Nothing by radiohead should ever be covered, or Pink Floyd. I get seriously upset if anything like that happens and honestly do feel genuinely disgusted. You cant copy genuis.

Any "proper" band that does an "ironic" cover version of a pop song at a gig.

Deftones did a cover of "hungry like the wolf" by Duran Duran
    I thought it was great.

Some other rock band did a cover of wothering heights (Kate Bush) also good

Remember Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal, that was good it worked as a rock song.

I've heard a few covers of some Evanescence tracks and they are absolutely awful. The woman singing sounds like a drowning cat.

recently heard one of my favourite songs ever "the weakness in me" by Joan Armatrading, being covered by some stupid silly girl whos got a crappy normal popstarry voice with no feeling behind it. theyve added an irritating poppy beat to it too just to really piss me off.

What???????????i perfectly know you're referring to Keisha White. But why do you have to call her stupid? So long as she's doing that song doesn't mean you should call her stupid.
I first heard the song from Keisha. It pretty much moved me,i like the way she sang the song everything is so perfect. Thanks to her the song is one of my favourite songs so it'll be pretty disgusting for you to call her stupid.
