edited January 2023 in General Chat
I was going to post this in the "going out" section, but I thought it was more appropriate in thid section.

Anyway for a few motnhs there always seems to be about 5 songs in every club in the UK that are really popular, and everyone cheers when they come on.

What are your top 5 favourite nightclub dance songs at the minute?

Mine are:

1. Tom Novy- something bout your body
2. Aaron smith- Dancing
3. Hi Tack - 'Say Say Say
4. DJ tiesto - Traffic (one of my all time favourites)
5. Bob sinclair - Love generation i think its called.

    Underworld - Born Slippy
    Faithless - Insomnia
    Anything by Arctic Monkeys
Anything by The Libertines or BabyShambles
Anything By The Stone Roses/Ian Brown

    In clubs?

The closest thing I've ever heard to rock music in a club is the killers or the odd greenday song.

    Best club song ever.

    Mark Mc Cabe-Maniac 2000 without a doubt.

Nope, I'm from Newry, which is quite a distance from bangor. I'm not really the type to go to the beachclub and all, too cheesy imo.

You call these clubbers songs? Hi-Tack "Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)" is the worst use of a Michael Jackson sample I've heard since some idiots decided to remix "Billie Jean" a few years back. And don't even think of mentioning the Sunblock/Naughty Boy versions of the Baywatch theme...

    Anyway, the five I select...
+ Rosie Gaines - Closer Than Close (new remixes) [SuSu]
+ Hound Dogs - I Like Girls [Sony BMG] (Olav Basoski remix every time!)
+ Martin Solveig - Jealousy [Defected]
+ Dero feat. Leee John - Dero's Illusion [Subliminal]
+ Leah - Contact High [White Label]

How undergrond are we talking? And please don't mention minimal house - MANDY Vs Bookashade "Body Language" is the dullest record I've heard last year.

Well its just a matter of taste really, im not really a fan of all this minimal techno and house or funky house. Don't get me wrong, some of its ok but i prefer stuff thats alot harder and like you say abit more underground. Stuff people probably wouldn't of heard of and would never ever be played in most clubs.

More geared towards the trance sound, are you?

I think trance music is having a difficult time at the moment. There's a lack of quality stuff around. Ferry Corsten's track "Fire" is one I quite like, but it's a quiet time for trance. I don't like the formulaic rubbish that's been around in recent years. When trance is good, it's amazing. When it's bad, you know it.

I like some trance but i'm more geared towards the harder end of techno, think Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Umek, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier and after listening to one of his recent sessions Eddie Halliwell. Top DJ's who play quality stuff in my opinion.

I've recently heard a track from Carl Cox, where he teamed up with Norman Cook to make "That's The Bass". It's surprisingly good, particularly the Tim Deluxe mix. I particularly like the music he makes now. To think this was the man who made "RIP Groove" as Double 99 back in 1997, "It Just Won't Do" in 2002, and now makes really tough house tunes. What a diverse producer, I can't stand those who just make every track sound the same. (Bodyrockers "Round And Round" comes to mind...)
