Yes people you read right!!!
It seems that Microsoft are investing 1 billion dollars to provide servers needed to put the X-box online, thats a lot of cash. This is so if any games company decides to create an on-line game for the X-box they wont have to pay any extra for the server space as Microsoft will provide the servers for them all at broadband level............
On the other hand Sony are making everyone in the UK get broadband(through BT)but the games developers will still need to pay extra for the server space as Sony arent going to fork out the cash for the servers like Microsoft!!!!
To me it looks as if the X-box as got the upper hand and being a PS2 owner that pisses me off!!!! <IMG SRC="frown.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
So whats your views people(especially Ego)???

Looks like I'm right
What do you mean they're making people?
I don't care anyway, I got a PS2 at Chrsitmas then won an X-Box
If you are blind to that fact that BT are currently doing broad band at £14.99 a month(only in certain areas)is a fact that sony are behind this(a bit)
Sony a refusing to put the PS2 online until GB are all connected(or most) to broadband level, as they dont want the games to lose the graphic quality.
Therefore resulting in them striking up a deal with BT to try and do this!!
There I have explained myself
I knew BT are doing broadband at £14.99 a month, as are ntl, but I fail to see how this is making them do it. Didn't know Sony were behind it though.
I'd heard there was a 56k modem specifically for the PS2 released in the States. Was it a lie?
Yeah, it's based around Windows 2000
Could be worse I suppose...could be the ME kernel...
It'd be quite interesting if SGI came out with a console...
Anyways, Microsoft will always be able to throw money at their projects. As a friend of mine once said "They have more money than God."
Yep!
[rant]
They have far too much money...and their products (the server stuff, anyway) aren't *that* good at all.

No . The same has happaned in Japan! PS2 modems are being released more and more. Although it is possible for the PS2 to get online in the UK with an external modem (I've heard it don't half lag/slow down   and you're against Americans etc with broadband).
Anyone who's that desperate for a list of PS2 compatible external modems can find them in the Tony Hawks 3 manual (Anyone desperate enough for me to type em out?)
Until now - www.broadband4britain.co.uk will sort us out. Broadband is available about 3 miles a way from me but not actually here . The second they announce it's available I'll be on the phone shouting "Take my money and gimme my super fast connection"...
Satellite?
