    I'm always up for a challenge! :p

This is going to be fun; everyone has to drink a bottle of dog*, or else.

*Newcastle Brown Ale, for the uninitiated

Only if it has pictures of Libby with her norks out.

The Grotto? Pah. It's trying to be trendy now, I think its a seafood place.

Maybe we could go to the Galleries and marvel at how crap yet strangely captivating new towns are.

Jemz, you probably won't make it there and back in the same day. See the thread further up for cheapo accomodation.

I propose 12 noon to meet at the portico at central.

12 would be impossible if I were to go via Carlisle. The earliest I could be there is 13.00 and thats making a ONE minute connection at Carlisle!!!

Well the station at Carlisle is small so there's a chance you can catch the other train.
I've never seen the Portico that's why I asked.

you locals should decide, ive no opinion, would like to visit a few different bars during the day tho rather than just staying in the one.

There is most definitely going to be a pub crawl, I demand it...or I'll just go on my own. :p

Grainger Street is well within staggering distance koe, worry not!

Yes, we will have a brief interlude of culture, honest!

JsT: you won't make the one-minute connection. The layout of Carlisle (a single lead to Newcastle/Leeds, and the Newcastle and Leeds platforms being next to each other) gives you an almost chance, but not quite.

Get here when you want then. 1356 is early enough.

No. It's hideously expensive, and horrid. Even O'Neills would be preferable.

Better pubs are literally seconds walk away: The Forth, The Bodega, The Bridge.

Meet by Burger King in the station. The portico is what the huge arch outside the station is called.

It's not going to be a huge boozy do until at least teatime. I refuse.

I will warn people that the 4 March is a home fixture for the Toon. That will make the toon insanely busy during the afternoon and early evening- especially the restaurants and buffets in Chinatown- although the Quayside will be alright. It's annoying because nearly all of my fave pubs are by St James.

Oh that's why I hadn't heard of the portico heh I'd say it's a good place to meet I can have a Burger King while I'm waiting.

Oh good. I'm 'such a lightweight' (read - not a big drinker) and I'm worried about my ability to find the right train if I'm too drunk!

Is the Toon some sort of ... actually I have no idea. *googles it* Is it something to do with Newcastle United Football club?

I did not know that...who says this place isn't an education? :p

Meeting up outside BK is only mildly embarassing, so I suppose it'll do... and also, is it wrong that I actually think O'Neills is alreet?

Newcastle United are at home to Bolton, and when they play at home it makes town busy- or even more busy than normal.

It could make getting food a pain, as Chinatown is right by the football stadium. Should be alright, just longer queues.

    Wye-aye.

Not even a Southerner could miss the BK in the station. Which makes it ideal.

It is when the Forth is about 10 paces away...

I take your point, but stand by my secret and shameful patronage of it. ;)

At least it's not Gotham Town, the pub that naked leapfroggers call home...

Or tell anyone we don't like that's where we're meeting...
