Suicide

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hello,

I have been contemplating suicide and feel that I may go through with it tonight. I simply cannot cope with how I feel anymore. I am aware that it will hurt my parents, but at times I forget this, and it is during one of those times that I worry I would end up doing it. Right this minute I don't want to go through with it but I know that in a few minutes/an hour I will be in the frame of mind where it feels like there is no hope.

hang in there, things do and will get better ! have a read of this , and consider talking to the samaritans (08457 909090) .

why is it you feel this way? getting to the route of the problem and solving the problem is the key to beginning to feel better about yourself.

there are lots of nice people here to talk to and receive advice from, don't be afraid to voice whatever concerns you have

Thanks for the reply, I guess i'm just needing distraction at the moment so that I don't go doing anything stupid. I emailed the Samaritans, and also Manchester Uni Nightline earlier, as I am scared of talking to people over the phone and also am not very good at expressing myself. It can take over 24 hours to get replies from them though so I figured that i'd probably receive faster responses on here.

I am not sure why I feel this way, it seems completely irrational to me but has been going on for months, although its only in the past couple of months that I've really started feeling suicidal. These feelings are strongest in the late evening, when I have no one around to distract me, and am feeling too tired to do anything to distract myself from how I am feeling (I suffer from insomnia so this can go on for hours and can become quite distressing).

During the day things aren't so bad as I try and do a lot of exercise/keep moving/force myself to socialise even when I really don't want to, but at night when I don't have all this I just don't know what to do :(

There's only no hope if you give up. This life is the only one you will have, so don't go and waste it away.

Sure, if you kill yourself you might have peace. But you'll be dead, how are you supposed to enjoy it if you're dead? Dead is that- gone, finished, no second chance. That isn't what you want, is it? You want to stop hurting. You want a better life. Well as I say, how can you enjoy not hurting and being alive if you're dead?

You don't get what you want by giving up, do you. You're strong enough to get this far, so you are strong enough to seek help for your problems. That's what you want to be doing, not killing yourself.

If you need to talk to someone urgently, you can ring the Samaritans, or if your voice has failed you, you can email jo@samaritans.org

are you at manchester uni then?

perhaps it's the change in lifestyle that's having an effect on you, if you've just started uni?

I can only guess at what could be making you feel this way, but it cant be a good thing if when you're not doing anything specifically to distract yourself, you feel this way.

everyone has their own ways of dealing with things like this, I myself am rubbish at talking about my feelings out loud... Perhaps you should try and think of the root of your problem, as it's only through realising that you can and will beat it, will you feel better.

but you will feel better, the journey is just tough

Maybe just realising that you need to not let things beat you? Giving up is only way you can lose. As long as your still alive you can keep fighting your feelings and make things better.

I know things feel worse at night. However I also found out the strangest things can bring you out of feeling down at a time when you thought it could never happen. Hang in there!

    hey there
I really hope that some of the supportive replies here have helped you to in some way reconsider. You don't have to be alone or feel like there's no hope - while you still want to be happy there is always hope. It sounds like you have parents that really care about you and you have already sought help from Samaritans and Nightline - I think that suggests that you want a way out of this. Hang on to that thought when you start to have dark thoughts.

come on here and chat again if things get bad. *hugs*

I think you're missing the point of our boards. If you've got no patience for people with problems then please find somewhere else to post your thoughtkess comments. Alternat6ively, keep posting rubbish and we'll ban you.

I'm here, I've been here a lot actually :) I just can't think of any words for replies at the moment. I am greatly appreciating all of the support though, it is helping me a lot, it is a relief to know that I don't have to keep it all to myself
