ok im not gunna say any bands at the mo but tell evy1 u know bout this and see what is the best band

    At the mo I'd have to say The Strokes. Best thing to come outta the states since...............whatever.

    An unpopular choice I'm sure and yes they've only made one album but my god they're good. Can't wait to see them Sunday <IMG SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">

    I don't really listen to a lot of bands (am mostly a raver) but I've always liked the Levellers for some reason.

    My vote goes to Garbage... I'm obsessed with most of the stuff on Beautiful Garbage.

    Unfortunately, I have to say that Dream Theater come a close second at the moment.

    I just know that Turtle will have a field day when he reads this after my constant insistance that I wouldn't like them until he introduced me to Disappear.

    My favourite band by absolute miles!
    I saw them last night in concert. They were absolutely amazing. I got Corey's Autograph aswell! I rate them 100 out of 100 anyday!!

    An interesting view into what people regard as good music, yes, but not even a mediocre guide to the best music. Shall we make this scientific? How do you measure the "best band in the world"? The band with the most technical expertise? The band with the most record sales? The band that takes the most drugs and is unable to get themselves dressed? The band that makes the most white noise? The band with the best sound technician at the desk when they perform live? Whaddya mean by "best"?

    Damn ToK.

    For what it's worth, the most technical band I can think of right now is Dream Theater. Great musicians, Petrucci is up there with Vai and Satriani in terms of guitar ability, Portnoy is indubitably one of the best rock drummers in the world etc etc.

    Best to listen to? Well, depends what mood I'm in. Fuck this shit, I can't do this.

    RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE have got to be up there somewhere in the most skilful and innovative band. Tom Morello's got to be my favourite guitarist ever. amazing. shame they've split up but i'd buy his solo stuff any day.
    RANCID also for their pure excellence in promoting hardcore, happy punk.
    and NO USE FOR A NAME for their soft punk melodic tunes and their ability to avoid any stereotypical image. although whats the 'no drinking, no smoking' pact the have....can't say i'd agree with that but hey they're still one of the best bands around, musically.
