Yes, I know. My question is this -

Why would your self esteem depend in any way on your employment status?

Things like deskilling occur, and what company wants to train you to do something when they can get the person who already knows how to do it?

Why would your happiness depend upon how useful some corporation found you?

It's the underlying assumption I was aiming for, tbh.
