Well, we're all different hon, so what works for me won't work for others.

Coming home after a long day at work to a nice tea and a nice bottle of wine is what I think is great. The most romantic day I've had was a gtrip to Whitby in February for Valentine's Day, fish and chips, fudge, mulled wine and a long walk along the cliffs, then home to fillet steak, nice wine and hot sex.

I bet a lot of people think that sounds shite.

That's exactly what I like too. Good food with your favourite drink, especially when it's cooked by your missus is romantic.

Failing that an evening trip to a seaside resturant/hotel and an activity/walk afterwards.

I remember getting my ex a balloon trip on her birthday and she loved it. My birthday came round and we went to some fancy resturant down by the docks and then went on to the casino. :thumb:

I would ask but i kind of want to suprise him, but it is hard becuase what men and women find romantic etc are two v diffrent things thats why i need some advice or ideas :) I guess I just want to show him how much I love him and that he is special....I'm not always the most affectionate of people and sometimes can be quite cold :( and I know it upsets him sometimes so I want to do something really nice for him.

The quickest way to a man's heart is straight through the chest.
    Take me to Whitby :)

I must be really lame, because what i like is just to be with the person i love a smuch as i can be. Nothing more then that!

I remember my ex took me out to dinner once and we walked along the beach afterwards, with the light from the full moon. It was incredibly romantic.

I have made a personalised tee shirt and written/recorded a song for a man before. I have to agree with the food suggestions too.

Firstly I think sweet is a horribly patronising word.

I dunno. I would let Mrs T cook for me and despite the presence of smoke detectors and insurance policies, I would be slightly reluctant!

The quickest way to a man's heart is twofold ; via the stomach or via the trousers. Satisfy those two things and you're on to a winner.

Few weeks ago, I cooked him his favourite dinner, and put candles and tea lights everywhere, all over the room for when he came home from work. He thought that was nice.

    Worked a treat!!!

    Ah, but which one?

A chicken bake is a bit of class, a cheese and onion pasty not so much;)

Meh I don't believe in shit like that, I'll appreciate stuff but I don't buy all that candle lit dinner shit.

Sadly you have a lot to learn about the male brain, Ballerina.

Am I alone in thinking that nice, cute and sweet are three of the most horrible words in the English language? Or at least, three of the most patronising ones.

Yeah, but if you're wanting to make a special effort you have to make a special effort.

Tomorrow night I'm going out for a meal, but its a surprise so I don't know where, or with whom. I know its not KFC though...

I think mostly what everyone else has said is pretty good. If you want it to be a good night, then just let him see how much you love him. It doesn't have to be expensive, good food, good drink, and entertainment of any description. Saying that, i suprised my guy by getting us tickets for an Al Murray show in reading and a day of shopping and food. It was so nice just to get away (we live in Kent) and have a change of surroundings.
