Last Thursday night, I was talking on the phone to a friend of mine on this site. All went well until we broached the subject of site meets. She's well-aware I'm off to one within days. The friend in question (you know who you are! - :p ) reckons that there are far too many meets being held at the moment. I challenged her to post a thread about it, she said no. So, I'm gonna do it instead. :p

Right, who reckons there are too many meets, then?
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

    Well the novelty has certainly weared off. I don't care, they're all in England anyway.

    personally think that if they happened less often that they would be bigger - more people etc. like scout jamborees.

    well people are meeting in different parts of the country, so don`t think there are too many cos they`re all over the place and people will attend whichever one they can make.

    I don't care, I think you're all jerks and wouldn't go anyway.

    If you hate meets that much don't go to them and ignore threads about them. Simple really...

    Back in the Famous Five era I was a scout, back when familes were together and scrumping was punished by a clip round the ear from a local bobby, generally when life was grand and the sun shone all the time before the Telly Tubbies and lager ruined what was a proud and great nation.

    i think the london meets shoot themselves in the foot by having them every 3 months or so, for like almost a year now kinda thing

    obviously its good to organise meets in other areas, and it doesnt really affect meet turnout if you do two meets like london and toon

    but it cant help having them all the time

    As I'm too far to go to any (and still would be unlikely to, for other reasons) I can't comment on there being too many.

    But I can comment on this: There are too many threads about meets. They should make a "Meet forum" and move them all there, instead of having them in anything goes.

    i tend to think if people want to arrange a meet they could do it via e-mail or phone or something but hey, i don't have to look at the threads.

    also, is this 'friend' too embarrassed to be named or something?

    That joke was in middle age when I suggested a Stornoway meet, now its just old and decrepid, like the hobo on the bus who smells of wee.

    Snow = yes.
    Rain = tent sinks, you get cold, and covered in cold mud. Not to mention walking becomes impossible as you sink... although to be fair, that camp was suffering constant rain, for the whole time we were there. :lol:

    I dunno. Depends where. In the middle of an evil forest?
