Hi, I have been thinking about joining the CAB as a volunteer. They are a great service which is free, they helped me a lot when a job I quit refused to pay me the hours I had worked (YES ONE STOP STORES THAT MEANS YOU!) Has anyone else used them or been a volunteer there and could tell me what it is like? I am just sick of doing nothing useful with my time!

Utmost respect to the people who volunteer there, they were invaluable to me and I'm sure many others.

They have info here about volunteering.

Thanks Miss, although that is the address for the New Zealand site, I managed to find the UK one and have emailed them. Look good on my CV methinks. Are you from NZ then? :-)

    D'OH <IMG alt="image" SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">

I lived there for a few years (where I had most of my dealings with the CAB)

Now resising back in suburbia, UK. Last remains of NZ should be leaving the system soon <IMG alt="image" SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Edited to add - good luck.

Sorry to hear about the One Stop Stores thing. I haven't done anything for the CAB, but if you want it to look fab on your CV, you should get in contact with Millenium Volunteers: you still volunteer for CAB, but MV give you certificates and awards and stuff if you volunteer for 100 or 200 hours in a year. Their web site is: www.mvonline.gov.uk
    Good luck <IMG alt="image" SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Thanks Octopus. :-) CAM sent me a letter today, saying they will contact me next month as they are restructuring? But that's cool as I can volunteer when I have finished uni (bring it on..)
