In need of people to help me set up youth organisation!

HI everyone!

I will now subject you to a long explanation of what I am proposing to do, (but it's very exciting/inspiring I hope <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">

I am a Youth Representative for the international organisation
TakingITglobal ( please investigate www.takingitglobal.org ). TIG is
a non-profit run by young people for young people. It's aim to
inspire young people to believe in themselves that they can create
positive change in the world and locally, to inform them of the
opportunities available to them, to involve them, and to bridge
digital divides.

For example an initiative called Ideafund (.org) takes young
people's ideas for something they feel strongly about, and gives them
advice on how to go about setting it up, how to run workshops etc.
and links to many organisations who will give them funding.
It also a place where they can find other sorts of opportunities
such as to showcase artwork, and submit articles, find out how to
become a UN delegate, find ways to have your voice heard on global
youth platforms, learn how to run workshops on something they feel
strongly about, learn about latest events, and discuss with other people around the world.
There is also a lot more, and it is always changing and adding things
as new ideas come along.

It has started a year ago as an international organisation with HQ
in Toronto Canada (by two young people), and it now has teams working
in many different parts of the world to reach people in their local
communities. The initiatives are tailored to particular needs in
those communities.

I have just started to set up a branch of TIG in the UK (I am based
in London). I am at the moment looking for people to help me
coordinate the team, and to perform certain roles within the group.
Once I get together the right people, we can decide which direction
we want the team to go in, depending on what we are good at and what
we feel passionate about. It has been quite hard to find people who
can commit to the same level as me.

We need: people that are good leaders to co-ordinate the group.
Hopefully somebody I can partner with in this way. Once I have done
that, I could run a workshop with them in schools and/or youth
centres to attract more people. We would need a balance of people who
are innovators/dreamers, who can think up creative ideas and
projects, and realists who can assess the feasibility and help to
make them reality. Or somebody who can be both, someone who doesn't
want to waste time and is results orientated. We would need somebody
with good business skills (entrepreneur), that can plan revenue, draw
up spending plans etc. Possibly somebody to be a treasurer and
budgeter. On the internet we would need people who are technically
minded to design and run that. Somebody to work in advertising and
marketing of TIG. People who are good artists are also needed, to
help in media and to encourage young upcoming artists to showcase
their work on the internet, and help them in selling their work. This
also could be a way to raise money for the TIG group.

There is a TIG UK site http://uk.takingitglobal.org, but there is
very little content on it at the moment, as the goals have not yet
been set.

I have some ideas, that I would like to run by you all. One of them
is to go in to schools, and possibly run workshops to tell them of
all the different types of opportunities available to them. Such as
how to make their voice heard, how to take action on an issue they
feel strongly about etc.

Other ideas are, to run workshops to promote dialogue on war, and
other world issues, hopefully using techniques of holistic eduction
programmes; homelessness projects; raising money or materials for
certain causes (for example in TIG Cameroon, Africa they need free
condoms - the TIG teams can provide connections to help each other in
this way); showcasing of TIG member artwork; eventually to set up a
resource on the website where people can become educated of other
cultures and history etc.

But I still want to leave it open to what people want to make it.

What do you think? Please contact me at camillaworld@wildmail.com
Sorry for this very long message!

Thankyou,
Camilla Noble-Warren
